Sorry to clarify to people who don't get it. The pinch bolts don't move under load. So when he sets the spirit level to zero it's the hub to vehicle chassis angle, gravity has nothing to do with it. You dont even need to set it to zero. You could take a reading add 1 swap bolts set it and done. I hope this helps.

First you need to level the Camber alignment to 0 to wall follow with water level, then attached it to your disc rotor. Second, most cars setting neg 0.45 - 0.5 , your setting it up to positive camber.

Assumtion; You know how to calibrate and use your gauge and how to install and make adjustments using the bolt kit. This is how I adjusted my honda civic with stock springs to correct for a negative camber and bring back closer to spec. It is easier to make changes also like adding or subtracting some degrees as this video shows . For alignment , one has to know the camber spec desired. With tires on , get the car on as level a surface as you possible can .This was on my driveway. Attach the gauge to the tires , anyway you can ,I was able to attach the gauge to the brake rotors, and determine the first readings. Let us say the camber spec is 0 degrees and on both sides the readings obtained were 2 degrees negative on both sides (for simplification). Therefore to get to 0 degrees you have to adjust to 2 degrees positive. Now jack up and remove tires. Reattach the gauge and zero out each tire by making adjustments on the gauge to read zero. You have to do this because the camber will change because the car is off the ground and the suspension "falls" . Adjust camber bolts to positive 2 degrees and the final result will be 0 degrees. The front tires on my civic were wearing on the inner sides ( gone negative). After installing the camber bolts and adjusting as best as I could I took the car in for alignment and on one side only , I was off 0.1 degrees. The accuracy depends on the car being level initially . But in this video since the poster is only making an adjustment and the amount of adjustment is known then it is not necessary for an initial leveling of the vehicle
@explorinlearnindoing54623 жыл бұрын
Ahhh now I get it. I thought why not go back from -1 to 0. But you measure with wheels on and car on the floor. So when car is jacked up you have to zero it, and then go to +1 to finally get 0. Okay got it. I hope standard camber bolts will work on my Mercedes because original Mercedes camber bolts can only adjust to 0.2 degrees... which is absurd. My front wheels are 2 degrees negative because its lowered.

How strong are these aftermarket camber cam bolts as compared to the factory OEM bolts? After all they are skinnier.
@yorkiepit27 күн бұрын
The camber must first be measured with the wheels on the ground on a flat surface and it's easy to do with most cars that have spoked cast, forged wheels, since you can place the camber gauge through the spokes and onto the brake rotor to establish camber. Once you know the camber, you can lift the car and remove the tires, because you already know how much you need to adjust it, so place the gauge zeroed out and add or reduce camber the desired amount. It's very worthwhile to do it yourself, as is adjusting caster and toe. When you're done, it will almost certainly be better than a shop, since the worker doing the alignments wants to crank them out as quick as possible and only cares about getting it close enough. Ever since a shop used a 1/2" impact wrench to install the aluminum oil filter cover on a Toyota I own, I've stopped taking cars in for things I can do in my home garage.

Hey! The metal tab which comes with the Camber bolt kit should be pointing horizontally away from the car for example like a crucifix which arms are pointing away horizontally and the tab shouldn't rotate when your rotating the Camber bolt head to do the adjustment so in order to not let it rotate out of its place you just press on the tab to hold it and don't loosen the nut too much while doing the adjustment and that should work.

Some cars have adjustments for camber. Some do not. And for those that do not this is where these aftermarket camber adjustment bolt kits come in handy. Keep in mind that high in mileage vehicles the camber changes due to wear in bushings in the front end. Forget that camber tool thats insane. Just go to home depot and get the small quare digital level. Then go get an alignment and either get a print out of your alignment or take a picture of the computer results. Cause they going to say thier printer dont work at any firestone you go to , Then go home, and look at the paper if your front right wheel is -8 camber on the paper . Jack the car up and take the wheel off and place the new orange digital home depot square level on the rotor cause it has a magnet on it, and what ever the number is , just move your camber bolt+8. The end. Thats how i do mine , it took me a year to figure out a way to set my camber i did all type of stuff man. All my camber is 0 on all four corners nowadays. Thats really the only way. Just got to get another alignment after you set it. But firestone lets you come back. So it ain't like you have to pay for another alignment.

How much are Camber bolts typically? Like for a Hyundai Elantra 15
@bv20103 жыл бұрын
Most are universal. They can run from about $15-$40 for a set depending on which brand you choose.

I am confused here. You are setting the camber with the suspension clear off the ground. What happens to the camber angle with the tires back on the full weight of the vehicle once again supported by the tires? I'm not criticizing here. I simply do not know and am curious.

Can a camber bolt install get the camber angle from -0°26' to within spec -0°15' - 1°15'?(LHS way out of spec and eating outside edge) , -0°16' to -0°15' - 1°15'?(RHS)

Old video, I know, but serious I'm shocked at how many videos there are on KZbin of people using these camber bubble levels, and they ALL are using them wrong, even this video!

Hello, I have a weird question. Can I use camber bolts with aftermarket coilovers (meaning the car is lowered) or should I go with camber plate ? My coilover (Tein street basis Z) doesn't have camber plate and I have to use camber bolts, but it seems it's not holding it's position properly. It usually 'slips' when driving on uneven roads (ruts, bumps, potholes etc).
@GeorgeAusters4 жыл бұрын
You can use camber bolts with any struts👍🏻

@@GeorgeAusters Thank you. But why my camber bolts keep slipping? I went to several alignment shops and it's all the same. Should I get another one which is 1mm more ?
@graphsicimagevinyls58823 жыл бұрын
@@jin5632 are you torqueing the bolts down to spec after you reinstall the strut/coilover? that might be why its slipping, not tight enough, also make sure to bolt down the lower nut first, then check your camber again to make sure its right before tightening the actual Camber Bolt

@jin5632 don't forget to look up Torque Bolt Specs. And Torque them accordingly. The usual specs on these types of Bolts are 70 Ft Pounds. I seen that on another video. That was for a car. I think Truck Bolts need to be Torqued a lil higher
