Latvians are brutally honest, it seems! In Japan, when a woman is pregnant she is "congratulatory" (omedeta) lol. Japanese like to pretend that nothing is wrong, ever!

7:18 Perfectly executed Latvian Deathstare. Reminds me of Māte or manu Vecmāmiņas, (please excuse mispronunciations). (Sniff) Ahh, memories...

Great video again, thank you. I would say that in English when asked 'How are you?' the response would be 'troubled' not difficult but you can be 'troubled by a difficult life.' Someone who calls themself difficult means they are being awkward towards someone although rarely does someone confess to being 'difficult', it's often pointed out to them.
@UneEtincelleNocturne2 жыл бұрын
Well, the literal translation of "kā tev iet" is "how's it going [for you]", which you could answer with "it's difficult", so I guess that's where the confusion happened...

While I realize that the whole episode is around the difficulties, I beg to differ that a most typical answer to "kā tev iet?" will be "normāli". The Latvian "normāli", however, is sort of below average.
