FABULOUS video. I am 60 years of age and have gained 10 yards / iron by finding the slot. The way I found the slot consistently was by moving my right foot back about 6 inches in my stance. My shoulders remain square. This allows me to clear my hips and get into the slot naturally. I'm 6'3" and 220 pounds. This right foot back has helped me immensely as I struggled with finding the slot.

Very few instructors talk about grip pressure and relaxing of the arms and shoulders. This is the key to all good swings and contact. (Release) Please mention in upcoming videos. 😀👍

Just kind of accidentally found this out on my own recently while experimenting at the range. Started laying my trail arm back and firing it at the bottom half of the downswing, instant results! I started playing about 40 years ago and am only just now seeing the gains in yardage and accuracy. Great...GREAT, tip. Thanks Michael!

I have found it several times, but not worked enough on it so i often go back to over-the-top. It is a great feeling and you can really feel you got the correct sequencing and it gets more obvious how you can get power from the legs... One trick i have learned that help me find this feeling is to switch place of the hands on the club (left hand down on handle, right hand above) and just start swinging the club back and forth. You get a feeling how the trailarm should sit in the swing...and it is almost impossible to throw it from the top so it's also great for understanding what tempo is needed in transition

Great teaching on this. Other KZbinrs have taught this in collaboration with Pete Cowan, but you made it easy to understand. That was a 9 iron, right? 😁

Michael, the club face seems open coming into the side arm throw. What closes it, the forearms, hands or both? Thanks for all you do, have always loved your channel and expertise.

I just found you- very impressed with your teaching skills. Question is- as I watch the videos- your feet are on a mat that slightly elevates your set up Position. Why don’t you just hit off the same level hitting mat

How does one find the slot with a driver?
@glennwiebe51288 ай бұрын
It's easier the longer the club because there is more room for the elbow to be tucked in. With shorter clubs one can get "jammed up" days there's less room. The other complicating factor is early extension. If you're hips are moving towards the ball at impact, instead of turning up and away, you will have to flip the club to make contact. You can't flip if the elbow leads the wrist.

Move your trail foot back in your stance about 6 inches. It greatly helps with getting your hands in the right position and into the slot. You can thank me later. :)

Michael, Why are you standing on a mat that has your feet slightly higher than the main simulator mat ?

Sir, it all starts with rotation of hips and shoulders not with arms. U r forcing arms into the hit rather have rotation with sling effect by arms.
