I will keep using Gen 1 until the 12 month free premium expires then reassess. Not real thrilled about the reduction to only 2 months of premium. I had planned to buy a new pair each year to re-up the premium but now will probably cancel the premium and just stretch out using existing pairs as long as possible. I do use polar on Gen 1 and its awesome. Credit to Form for back porting the swim straight feature.

Huge fan of my form goggles in a gen 1 use. Have used them to race in a tri and loved having the clock in front of me. Also having the head position info has been really helpful for me to improve my form and speed. Big fan overall!! New updates are on my goggles and excited to test it out.

Been using the Gen 1 with a Polar HR sensor for about 3 months and loving it. Together with your training videos my swimming is completely transformed and improving all the time. 💪

Tried mine this morning. I have both gen 1 & 2. Loved being able to see the HRM, and no issues with it. Worth the upgrade and money? Definitely!

I have the gen 1 form goggles, and an polar HRM attached. Concept / Hardware The heads up display is great. The resolution not that high, which works well. Having timing is great. Heart rate is intriguing. The fit is OK, but not great. The clarity fogginess is OK, but not great. On dive starts they tend to not be stable. They are somewhat big, which I think is the problem. The form measures come from the goggles. They don't really know how high your elbow is, or if you are applying force in the useful direction (backwards.) I don't have a connected watch, so I don't know how that works. There is no sound. They can't listen to your or talk to you. They don't do music. They work great at night / in the dark. They are less great in bright sun. But I never had a time I could not read them. Software / Plans All the plans and form metrics are oriented around long distance freestyle. There are no plans for the other strokes, and limited plans for sprinting. There is also no integration with providers of plans like that, like My Swim Pro. I can't find a live stroke rate, or any tempo training features. I got the 1 year membership included with the goggles. This seems like a good deal to me. The more limited 2 month plans are not enough. Form Score I think the head pitch might be wrong for me. It wants me to look forward much more. I find my preferred neck position is more neutral, looking down, compared to the googles recommendation. I wonder if there is some setup I am missing, and the goggles are not correct. Focus For me - Great!! Older people (55+) with typical eyesight start to lose the ability to see very close small details. This makes (small) fitness/training watches less useful. But these goggles make the text appear a comfortable distance away, so it is clear and sharp. Less smart goggles, that just acted as a display for a watch would also be good / useful from this perspective. Overall I am very happy with the goggles for me and my use. I would like something similar for cycling.

I have the gen1 and love them. I added on a Polar OH1+ to the temple after a week. It is way more accurate than my Garmin 965 on wrist HR during hard intervals. During Z2 or 1 the wrist and temple HR agree well. To me the only reason I'd consider a G2 is for the more accurate OWS temple HR , as the goggles can only support a single connection. So when the G1 goggles are linked to your GPS watch, they cannot also link to the Polar OH1+.
@wojciechsedlaczek3116
@wojciechsedlaczek3116 3 ай бұрын
I have question about single connection. Can you connect Polar OH1+ to Garmin smartwatch and then you connect smartwatch to goggles? Wouldn't you then get both measurements? GPS from the smartwatch and HR from Polar OH1+ transmitted via the smartwatch?
@windscreen91
@windscreen91 3 ай бұрын
@@wojciechsedlaczek3116 Unfortunately, no. There is a programmed limitation (probably inside the Form data field, but maybe within Garmin) in that the watch will only broadcast HR that comes from its internal sensor. I believe this is due to the unreliability of trying to transmit an ANT+ signal through water (pretty much, can't happen). For this reason, devices like Garmin's HRM-Swim and HRM-Pro, and even the Polar OH1+ have a mode where they log HR internally against an accurate time base, and then _after_ the activity they push that HR data set to the watch, where it stitches the HR sensor data together with the swimming data. The reasons Form can get away with an external HR sensor is because the sensor is only a centimeter or two away from the receiver, and because you are supposed to put the Form computer on your breathing side, so it gets out of the water with some regularity.

Yeah, I've had Form Goggles for about a year and a half. They're great for tracking your workout. However, they are not comfortable, they tend to lose seal on fast turns, and yes, I know how to adjust the goggle strap and change out the nose piece. I also don't think the premium membership is a good value. I still use them from time to time when I want to monitor my pace and distance but generally prefer my regular goggles for the majority of my swims. I suppose the heart rate feature is a nice upgrade but, in all honesty, I don't train to heart rate when I swim.

Unrelated to the video, but you might consider offering iPhone, Samsung, etc. under water video set up to assist your followers in producing quality videos for you to critique. The case, pole extension, etc. could be offered the Effortless Swimming store with a video of how to use the gear.

What do you think about the head coach peak head roll? Seems odd that the “100’ or top form is underwater and shows as -70 degrees. Shouldn’t that be at 9- degrees or perfectly horizontal so one eye is above the water line and one below? .. assuming the water is perfectly calm and flat lol.

I mean, yeah? Pretty much only people with a competitive swimming background (and a lot of live coaching) wear swedish goggles and most people wearing Form goggles are amateur swimmers looking to improve on their own.

I have gen 1 googles, they work but leak sometimes (despite strap and bridge adjustments) and do fog. Also, the visibility can not see as wide an angle, so unlikely to use in open water. The price of subscription is also $$$ so not sure if will keep it after next year.

Do you think the new Form Goggles are worth purchasing if I have a Garmin Epix I swim with and the magic googles (which were pretty expensive). I want the form goggles but don't want to waste money if it's not worth it.

One question I have about them. Most goggles I find become very foggy after about a months use. How are these in regards to that? Obviously they are quite expensive to replace because they are no longer staying clear. Thanks for the video.

The anti fog on them lasts a lot longer than other pairs of goggles. Gets a little less clear to see out of the longer you have them but overall it’s pretty good

As the diving instructor once told me: _the greener, the cleaner._ He was referring to the color of the spit/phlegm you use on the inside of the goggles before going into the water. I've been using this method for years now on cheap swedish goggles and it works like a charm. What you do is: 1. Spit in the goggles (make sure they are dry beforehand) 2. Use your thumb or index finger to "lube" up the lens (make sure not to get the nail on the plastic and it will scratch and make it more prone to fogging). 3. Leave the goo on for a couple of minutes (e.g. while you're showering). 4. Rinse gently by splashing water from the pool on the lens. 5. Good to go, clear vision for the whole session (unless you flood them or rinse them again)!

I love the gen 1 goggles I have. I'm happy to hear the swim straight feature will apply, that sounds VERU useful. I probably won't upgrade for the sake of the HR monitor. I'm just working on technique, not concerned about training zones at this point.

Would love to hear your thoughts on the FORM score Brenton - what is yours? Especially head pitch and peak head roll seem a bit weird at the level 5 angles. I'm a Gen1 user and have a separate heart rate sensor, so no need to upgrade since we also got the software updates which is nice. FORM did change their subscription pricing again - I would hope they settle on something for a while, it's making it harder to trust the brand if the price of using the goggles keeps fluctuating so much.

I think the Form score is a great metric to use to track your overall swimming. I’m typically 88-89 in a good swim

I have found their Head Pitch and Time To Neutral scores utter garbage. I think they are calculated incorrectly. The other metrics I think are very good. I contacted Form about my concerns and was basically disregarded.
@giu1644
@giu1644 4 ай бұрын
@@bradcage6819 same, essentially they just summed it up as having data from millions of kilometers and it being the correct position. I tried one practice swimming by tilting my head higher where form wants it and my neck hurt afterwards. They explained to me that people dig into the water if they look down. For me that is just a neutral position and my head still sticks out of the water even if I'm at 15ish degrees of head pitch. For me that means looking a meter of two ahead of me. At 33 degrees I almost see fully forward.
