If you had to cut 60 wires, then remove 60 insulation, then crimp 60 wires it might work. Otherwise if you have to do everything at once before moving to the next piece it would take way too long. That being said the only thing I can see that's good about replaceable dies in long term maintenance of the tool.

While this will definitely work, in order for the factory specifications to apply to current load ect a crimp must be properly crimped from all directions toward the center. Using a vice only crimps from two sides and not from all sides like an actual crimper tool would. Using a vice can also produce a physically weaker crimp for the same reason as it is only crimping from two sides rather than all directions.

I was finished with my regular snips and crimper plyers before he even got the screws back in and shrink wrap is being heated as we speak😂…. All jokes aside though, this would be awesome for doing wiring on semi trucks, it could fit rightvup by the starters too so we dont have to use the wack with the hammer style tool which is hard to fit by frame rails.

I prefer heating and filling that cup with solder to last a lifetime, especially if its a battery connection where the corrosion is common at that crimp. If you prefer to still use the crimp, its best to coat the copper wire with penetrox wire lube to keep the moisture out..

The crimp die design is a bit compromised, the ones I use don't have that much width so you can execute multiple crimps along the barrel without having your vision obscured. Nice tool though...

Seems to me the major complaints about this tool is the lack of "quick changing" of the jaw dies. Unless you are familiar with this tool like an army infantryman is with his service weapon, you are not changing dies on this tool as quickly as shown in the video. Too many small and finicky parts to lose or damage. Better to make the jaw assemblies themselves (with crimp dies integrated) interchangeable. Less to lose, easier to replace.

I got rid of my hydraulic crimper for a long-handle manual one where I just spin the right die into place. Nothing to lose and makes a much better crimp with far less frustration.

@TheEsseboy Nowhere near that, but yes, it is longer, but not heavier than the hydraulic I had. Having proper crimps is well worth it. Isn't that the point of the exercise? The hydraulic I had would quit compressing well before completing a good crimp.

@@TheEsseboy If I were doing this in a production environment, I certainly would, but since it is mostly automotive and small-scale solar, this one works just fine based on an ongoing evaluation of needs vs cost and maintenance. The manual tool doesn't require recharging, nor will it need battery replacement, if that is even possible when the time comes. The history of begin able to replace batteries with the cordless drills has been abysmal, having to throw out perfectly good drills because replacement batteries are either not available or are far too expensive. Again, on evaluation for a high-use production type environment, this can be amortized over a lot more crimps than for small-scale work. Hence my line worker acquaintances use electric tools, but big-name brand. I also find using this tool far less awkward than the hydraulic tool where it seemed you needed at least 3 hands to do the job properly. Electric obviously would be a bit different, as you aren't pumping a handle. Are you tied to the company or possible affiliate links provided by eFIXX? You seem to be quite a fan of this kit.

@@patrickbuick5459 Sure, for that I can understand, but these are as you implied for when you spend most of your time crimping and stuff. Batteries are easy to replace nowadays, and without too much hassel, you can replace the cells in a dead battery by hand, I've done myself with my tool, just get a spot welder for batteries, some nickel strips and fresh cells 😇 No, I just like tools that cut down on time and effort, so much hate towards them when they are saving millions of hours in the world yearly.

The only way I can see this make sense is if you have a nerve issue or something that makes it difficult to do the crimping yourself. But even then, the screws to switch out the jaws makes these really impractical...

Im guessing that tool is expensive or youd have one for cutting and one for crimping. If you're doing 10+ cables I could see why you'd want one but if you're doing say... 4 then it'd be easier to do them manually and you don't have to lug around that big tool or keep it charged.
