Such a very cool EDF jet. Love how you talk to new pilots that think they want this really cool EDF, but are not quite ready for it. I had bought planes I wasn't ready for, and it didn't always end well. lol For you new pilots out there, think about getting the RF 9.5s simulator, it will help you hone in on your skills before you buy a plane you're not quite ready for. Buy it from Brian's channel which helps them bring us great content or from your local hobby store. If you already have a good transmitter, then get the download version, that way you can set your DR and EXPO rates up on the transmitter you will be using to actually fly your plane. Thanks again Brian and Camera Crew for bringing us a great channel for RC planes, as well as setup and flight reviews.
@BrianPhillipsRC2 жыл бұрын
Yes, thanks ;) So many new planes that will temp the novice, but if they buy this as a novice they will be a "one and done" and we are fighting back hard against the one and done pilots...we want every pilot that's interested, to get to their full potential, and be flying for a long time!!!
@TheFrenchPug2 жыл бұрын
I bought the 9.5s and those jets move very fast and landings are very realistic (and really take some finessing). They are also all different on their flight and landing characteristics. Jets are not easy!

The V-1 was my first edf if you don’t count the Arrows Marlin and 50mm Viper. I thought I had bit off more than I could chew. “6s? Twin engines? Who do I think I am, Brian Phillips???” Turned out it was one of the best flying planes I’ve ever owned. At the time of the 3 maiden flights it reminded me of how easy the Twin Otter flew, but twice the speed. Time for a backup!

I did make a cover for my Para motor, and just got my Helmet with Bluetooth audio...now need to figure out UHF Radios, and some other details. Been working through the PPG Bible too...but haven't got past what I already did in training. Also, got fuel ready, and mixed with Predator Oil (Fly PPG recommended 40:1, but I ended up doing JUST under, more like 42.5:1 just due to the 5.501 gallons I pumped into the 5 G container). I've also been working on kiting once, and it was dark ;( so that didn't go super well...but when weather permits, I'll be back at it. Running the KZbin channel, and 50-70 hours work weeks at the "day job" leave little room for PPG, but I am going to MAKE room for it. This is what I want, and I won't be leaning on too many excuses about it in a month or two, when the spring arrives - I kinda can't wait!

I think I've narrowed down my next plane to this one or the FMS P-40. I know they fly differently but they'd be about in the same price range. Decision, decsions?
@BrianPhillipsRC2 жыл бұрын
Such different planes. I feel like this A-10 would be a great choice if you're geared toward jets, but if you want a more practical "everyday" flier, that's going to give you more flight time, the P-40 might be for you. Honestly, when they're that different, I look at it like this... I want both. So, really the quesiton becomes, which one do I want FIRST? Decide based on what's IN STOCK, and what's likely to STAY IN STOCK...I.E. Are they going to discontinue the "other plane? If so, you might get the "Other plane" first. I think this being pre-order, might be #2 on the list??? A10 bit.ly/2P1i286 P-40B bit.ly/3zbmNyE + AR631 bit.ly/3pYNC3c OR AR637T bit.ly/3pW3u86

I will say the FMS 980 P-40 is a very unstable airplane, however it pushes 100mph which is fast for a prop plane

Hi Brian looking into getting into to planes and heli should I buy a nx6 or nx8 transmitter
@BrianPhillipsRC2 жыл бұрын
Good quesiton! I'd HIGHLY recommend the NX8. It's only a few bucks more, and if you're taking the plunge, I'd suggest you get the NX8. It's got all the bells and whistles, but DON'T get the one with the receiver. I don't want the one they offer, I'd be okay if it was an AS3X/SAFE equipped receiver, but it's not, so don't get that. Just get the Transmitter ONLY - better value. NX8 bit.ly/3fffqyx Bigger Tx Battery Pack - 6000mAh 3.7V - bit.ly/3bZ0nHW

Hello Mr. Phillips. I am about ready to purchase this A10. Having enjoyed your "field fixes" on many RC planes, I am very curious about your take on the fact that the rudder servos are permanently entombed in the vertical stabilizers once they are glued to the horizontal tail. This seems like "paint yourself in the corner" engineering. How in the heck would someone replace or upgrade the servos without destroying the entire tail assembly? Thanks! Dale.
@BrianPhillipsRC Жыл бұрын
You only have to use some KICKER (CA Accelerator) to get the glues to break down, BUT I wouldn't plan on having issues. I haven't (yet) and don't suspect it to be an especially high probability of failure....at least this point. Go for it. Great plane, and even if you DO have an issue, you'll love the path getting to the issue ;) BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR bprc.me/A10
@dalezesiger9873 Жыл бұрын
@@BrianPhillipsRC Sweet! Don't know what "kicker" is, or what it is designed to do, but based on the cool stuff you have done to get around short comings in some of these "off the shelf" RC models, I will take your word for it. In truth, I do not trust the servos HH uses in many of their BNF planes - they cut corners, and use junk servos; and as a general rule, I upgrade all the servos that come stock in EF planes. I love your insight, and having said that, I really love this plane. I had the Freewing version before I got out of the hobby for a hiatus. Now that I am back, I really miss my A10 - along with my FMS 1400 Trojan, it was the best flying plane in my fleet. I really want to love this EF A10, but I am hung-up on the silly engineering of gluing [anything] on modern RC planes. I know you know more than me, and I put a lot of stock in your opinion(s) and insight. A job well done...thank you! I WANT this plane. But...

SAFE pretty much makes taking off a breeze, but really flying this or any plane is a matter of culmination of a lot of practice, absent which, you'd be looking at a modified version of lawn darts - only 100+ MPH

Just wondering; not casting aspersions :-) but if low on battery and doing go arounds; why operate flaps and cycle gear ? Why not just leave them down and save battery ? Cleaning it up just seems unnecessary...have a great week...
@BrianPhillipsRC2 жыл бұрын
It's all about drag. Drag is HUGE from the gear (look at the gear doors), and flaps the same...I gotta "get there" so if you leave the flaps at "takeoff" setting, you'll get the best of both worlds. Gotta get out of the gear too, in the event of dead stick landing - LOL - not that I'd ever do that ;) [F15 Twin 64mm - LOL - very recently]
