NICE! Thanks Al - you'll love the Micro Draco. This plane is also amazing. It's like flying the big one, only small. It's strange how well it flies for being a "micro" but not UMX...since it's a bit too big to be UMX ;) The Yak is a great experience. We used to do all sorts of HobbyKing stuff...then we kinda just moved on, since the models were getting to be a bit too much work. They've been working hard to improve quality, purportedly, so we'll see. So far, pretty impressed!

So glad to see you get a HK plane. The Yak has been out for 3 years, this is the 3rd version released recently, and is one of the really great models HK sells. They all sound like that. You need to get an Albatross now for the pond. At 1.6m its super scale, and youll love it. BTW Hobby King sells a heavy duty lipo battery thats exceptional.

@BrianPhillipsRC18 күн бұрын
You could handle it too with this power system. She did "fart" for me a few times, so keep an eye on yours when you get her. I hate when they do that, but only if the plane stalls out at a terrible time. Just don't lose her cramming the throttle too quick with an even more aggressive prop - good luck!

Flaps will always lighten up the tail so its a good habit to take them off as soon as you touch down Brian. i notice you dont do that very often start doing it.
@BrianPhillipsRC18 күн бұрын
I don't usually since I want to use the extra drag to help slow down the planes a bit faster. Keep in mind, we're on a short runway. When / If you end up with this plane, you'll see what I was talking about. The gear are a bit toe-out and bindy....so the plane pulls real bad so grass ops are okay, but hard surface landings can be kinda crazy.

Hey Brian. Did I hear you correctly that your voltage alert was set to 20.4 volts. That’s 3.4v per cell. Have you any issues flying that low? Is that your cutoff fr foamies vs balsa? Just curious. I try to stop at 3.6, but I definitely want to push the envelope of my batteries. I am not a jamming 3D guy. I’m a cruiser with some graceful ballerina moves hah Thanks and happy new year.
@BrianPhillipsRC16 күн бұрын
My experience on 6S is that you have so much head room on power, so if 25% throttle will keep you flying, you could go till she starts to sag, if you wanted, but I usually set my alarms to 3.3VDC on Prop planes, and 3.6-3.8 on EDF jets. It more depends on your SITE, and how long you have to fly for a go-around, AND how competent you are at initiating a landing. I'm usually pretty "johnny-on-the-spot" with moving into final, and in the right conditions, I can final either way from our front runway, so I have some flexibility you may not enjoy.
@rajnificent16 күн бұрын
@@BrianPhillipsRC thanks BP. I ordered the SWS after your build video and my gosh thing is a graceful bird. I’ll try to push the battery a bit more, maybe go down to 21.0v and that should still give me room to do a few slowmo passes specifically in this plane.

Hey Brian not totally happy with mine and Hobbyking's quality! First i had to run a direct Y harness to the gear channel on my RX so my retracts would work and then one of the retracts came out of the wing because there was barely any glue on it and finally the C clips that hold the wheels on made the wheels to tight and they couldn't spin freely so i had to take them off and use wheel collars so the wheels would spin freely. So beware people if you're interested in buying this 😢 airplane!

It's alot of plane for the little money it costs. Think I paid £250 after the discounts day they offered. However it's is a cheaply made plane. Cheap quality, poor thoughts on some designs (rubbing tail wheel against the foam, heavy prop and terrible material and fitting nose cone etc) and the landing gear needs ripping out and re glueing. But I guess it's cheap to purchase so it's not like you're paying eflite money for a durafly product. Unfortunately I find all of Hobbykings planes cheap. I prefer to spend a little more. However it does perform well for 4s 1.2m eflite money.
@BrianPhillipsRC17 күн бұрын
This is a common position, and one that we shared a while back (maybe 7-8 years ago), but I can say, this plane feels BETTER than yesteryear...but spending a bit more for higher quality isn't a bad idea. I just hope HK keeps improving. They ARE getting better. It's not quite as bad as getting a Dynam - which is a complete redo on their worst planes... That all being said, planes are not the easiest thing to build, market, and sell - so I hate to rip them a new one when they ARE improving. Hope you could hear that in our review.
