Fyi, be sure you fellas and gals don't accidentally try and take off in safe. Lol. You will destroy the prop. You can take off in safe but, you have to adjust you ail stick to level before you accelerate. Or it will just nose over. Didn't mean too, just learned the hard way. Haha. Awesome video Brian. You can get in the air, but you have to be super careful about the speed with which you add in power...this is a tough skill for the newer RC pilot. We want to keep the long format for now, and hope to keep support of our amazing audience ;)

That tiny prop though, I am quite in love with my Arrows F4U with scale flaps mod and a 500kv and 50A esc upgrade to swing a 13x6 4 blade on 4S the way a Corsair should. I do like that E-flite fixed the Corsair and left it just blue for us to mod. Nicely flown.

Another great video. You guys are the best! I ordered my viva your link. By far the easiest build ever for any Eflight plane. Super easy. The decals do take some planning for placement. I maiden mine this past Saturday no wind, bright sunshine, She flew like she was on rails! I do have one gripe: My flaps servos buzz in landing flaps. After removing and inspecting the servos and funding no problems with the servos. I reinstalled the servos. I thinking the geometry of the linkages may be the problem. I did reduce my flap throughs to pos 1 - 20, pos 2 70. This stopped the buzzing and I didn't loose all that much deflection. Don't know if anyone else has this issue.....

Thanks for buying this beauty from the links!!! If she keeps buzzing, see if you can OVER-DRIVE it for a second, then back it off...if it stops buzzing, then it's just a foam joint stress, that will word out over time. You can unclip the flap and work it up and down a few times to help too, if this seems to be your issue.

I have a question, I have gotten myself my first rc plane, the habu STS, first flight everything went well, until the approach for landing, flown right into a tree, and now the nose is a little bent to the right, would this affect the aero too much or could I just get it into the air no problem?

You can fly with a bent nose, no problemo, but it'll look pretty bad. Try this... Put the plane over your sink. Put a but of warm water in the microwave for 2-3 minutes (or until it first boils), and with hotpads, grab the cup out and dump it onto the nose...then use your thumbs to FLATTEN the bumps, and grab and twist it straight. You'll be AMAZED how much better you can get it.

Hi Brian, I am having trouble setting a switch for safe select. I am using a DX6e transmitter. Here is what I sent to Horrizon asking for help along with their responds. I'm not sure what to do.... "So I can get it tied to the landing gear. Then I go into "forward programing" and follow the steps in the instruction manual on page 12 (updated 4/22) When I toggle the switch and tell it to be off when the gear is up, it accepts that but then when I go to the other setting, gear down it is also off. So I tell it to be on, then when I go to gear up it is also on??? Also, I'm seeing "flight mode 1,2 and 3" 1 is gear up and it says safe select on, then when I change it to off it says "flight mode 2" if I put the gear down at this point it says "flight mode 3" and safe is off. Turn it on and it does not turn on. Put the gear up, we are back to "flight mode 1" and safe is on again." Their responds was this.... "The 0 position of the switch will default to SAFE on if using safe select and there is no way to change that. The flight mode should be showing 1 for the switch pos 0 and flight mode 1 or 2 for the 1 position if using a 2 position switch for gear such a switch A. If using a 3 position switch then it should follow the switch with flight mode 2 being the center position and flight mode 3 being the 2 position." I am using switch A. Any ideas on how to fix this? I know you don't want to hear this, and I understand it sucks to "need" a new item in RC....but you NEED to get more channels to avoid this sort of conflict. NX6 would give you enough channels, but I'm not going to try to talk you into that...I'm going to try to talk you into the NX10. Buying a transmitter is like buying TIRES for your Family car...less the NEED part - LOL...but what I mean, is you don't want to buy new tires for the car, but you need it, and if you don't, you might be able to get by for a few more weeks/months/years, but you do it anyway...it's just like taking $1000 and throwing it in the garbage. You don't really notice a huge change, except when you're NOT on the side of the road swapping out a blow out, or NOT dealing with a vibration at speed...but the feeling is the same... you just NEED to get the better Tx to do what you want. It's a tough pill to swallow, and I too struggled with it when I got my 3rd or 4th Tx (can't remember exactly the number) which was an NX8. It solved most of my problems, until not too much later, I ended up with a DX18. I NEVER looked back. It was one thing I didn't have to worry about. It was "done". Now, the DX8 and DX18 were huge jumps from the Dx5i and Dx4e I was starting with, but once I got into a DX8, I had all the stuff I "needed" until I ran out of channels...so when I went to the DX18, at some considerable expense, I only gained a LITTLE bit of feature for a LOT of money, but there was no other way to get it done. I guess, I want you to see that what's going on, is that you got too few channels to do what you REALLY need to do. If you want to make this work, you 100% can, but what I've learned over the last 9ish years of doing this, there's so much struggle to avoid the inevitable, in what you're doing, and I've been there - done that. Don't be like me...just get what you need, and make your life easy. I bet you can still off-load that DX6e for a bit of cash, to help off-set your new transmitter. Getting ready for maiden flight, but I noticed on a test bench at full throttle the RPM fluctuates in a very consistent and repetitive cycle.

I was wondering what the yellow plug from the throttle goes to. Does it just sit off to the side. I have been getting very short interruptions while flying. I’ll loose signal to the plane for a spit second even regain again. My spektrum ix12 flashes and tells me holds warning. Not sure what’s going on. Should I remind it. I tried to do bind it so I would disable safe select and only have as3x. Any suggestions.

Talk to Spektrum about this issue before you lose a plane. I've not heard of this before. Yellow cable on the ESC is a programming lead.

When you stick the Velcro (fuzzy side or bumpy side? ) onto the shelf liner and put into the plane, how does the battery stick to the shelf liner? Are you then depending on the straps, to hold the battery in place? Thanks for your help! Al Huth

This is our RADIO SETUP video. I suggest you do what I do and see if your outcome is better. If you're having issues with the setup printed in the manual, then download a BNF profile from EFlite, I have to assume it'll be the same exact setup or at least very close to the same.

How you get by on the batteries amazing, don’t know how many times I have lost the battery and barely made it in . I cut the head off of a fine steal finish nail down through my tails to reinforce the strength. Before I fly.

One of my rotating retract servo's already went out and those strut pins keep falling out.the pins are even hard to find cause they are an off weird size . I've checked everywhere. You have 7 channels....the last of which is not a "Full" channel... In no particular order... 1) Throttle 2) Ailerons 3) Rudder 4) Elevator 5) Gear 6) Flaps 7) AS3X/SAFE OR Thrust Reverse - You decide what you want ;) Make the ESC Assignment and setup your switch and you're ready to rock and roll.

I love my Corsair, thanks Brian! Unfortunately, it beeps like crazy whenever I got past 5/8 throttle. I have done the low voltage warning adjustment (it let me take it two to 3.8V) but it still wails every time I punch it (tried different battery packs, 3S /4S etc)! Any suggestions?

it happens to me that after a flight of approx. 3 minutes with a 4s battery, the engine is very hot. this seems a little abnormal to me that it gets so hot. does your engine heat up too?

YES. this is pretty normal, and best thing to do is to get the plane cooled down at the tail end of your flight, if you can resist going nuts till the end of the flight ;)

I recently did the maiden on my Corsair and as soon as I raised the gear the right gear fell off. I lost both the small pin and the wheel and strut. HH is sending me a new set as soon as their off back order. Any suggestion how to keep this from happening with the new gear?

Thanks for the review Brian. Been a long time since you reviewed the eflite Corsair back in your old home. I'm not keen on the new all blue but the AS3X and Safe is something I prefer to have so I got the original one. I love with the green on the nose and wings. Added an Avain 60a esc and AR631. Waiting on a Maule motor to arrive then I'm hoping I have a very quick Corsair. I was a kinda disappointed with the new Trojans speed. They really should've upped the motor spec on these new versions. Id love to see a 1.5m 6s Corsair with clip off wings and suspension to go with my Focke-Wulf and P51 1.5m warbirds.

There's not really an easy way to do so in BNF, but if you wish, go for it. SAFE is only on when you ask for it, but AS3X (Stabilizer) is always on with BNF models from Eflite.

Very good. It's a great plane. I can say that most all the EFlite 1.2m Warbirds are basically "best in class" as they cost about the same as the competitive offerings, but they're BNF (Bind and fly) and they have all the features you want, less sometimes NOT having LED's. bprc.me/F4U_Corsair

THIS ONE may be the one I'm looking for! It appears that "VMF" means MARINE Fighter Squadron and not NAVY. The "T" part stands for Training. In the online E-Flite photo the dash precedes a squadron number "15" matching the same number on the cowling.

@@BrianPhillipsRC ...and Kieth, my USN son, said that the nose number is an ID number for that particular aircraft within the squadron. Kieth was with VS-27 (Navy, Submarine, Squadron 27) and the numbered aircraft in that squad skipped #27.

I set mine up as you did. Everything works great , very nice. Something weird. I'm not experienced enough to figure it out but when deploy my flaps , they fully extend and stop. i hear a slight sound coming from the flap servo area kind of like they are still running. Even though the flaps are all the way down. Do you know what would be a common reason for that to happen ? I checked my flap settings on the nx8 and they are all as directed. I'm just lost cause it really flys great.

This means you might be OVER-DRIVING them into the foam, possibly colliding with the pieces of the wing where they extend out? If it's LOUD, you should try to slightly back them off in the FLAP menu, OR you can try to work them even further by millimeters...you know, just bend them DOWN just a bit more, then let go...VERY FAST...like 1 seconds or less. Both flaps. If you do this too long, you might damage the servos. If this doesn't work...just set them to LESS deployment and see if it helps. Also, if it's real quite, it might just be the hing material isn't really broke in just yet. "Exercise" the flaps a bunch of times, if you're concerned...RUN them up and down about 100 times and see if the noise stops, or lessens. Give this a shot, maybe 3 minutes of work here, and let me know what you find. Good luck! Welcome to RC, this is A part of the learning experience. I'm sure I would! I've only ever had ONE Bearcat, and it was excellent. We would love it if MotionRC would work with us, but to date, they keep saying no, wait, or maybe while we've sold or helped to sell endless amounts of amazing RC gear for OTHER companies. My father bought one like 10 years ago no safe it was massive. He d never flown and neither had I. Long story short I flew it and it flew beautifuly. Man those gull wings was flexing but I crashed it when he freaked out when it was coming at us 15 ft off the ground. Till this day I have to hear about my shitty piloting skills and that f4. Man he was pissed. I don't blame him awesome plane though.

The grass issue is a major issue where I’m at, my carbon cub tends to flip on both take off and landing where I’m at🤦‍♂️. Also caused my umx A10 to split in half a couple weeks ago🤯. I for one would really like to see this as a 1.5M 6S like the mustang!!

Thanks for another great video! Any tips on how you take off so smooth without letting it pull to the left? I find myself struggling with adding some right rudder while talking off. BTW, personally, I prefer one single long video with everything instead of splitting into maiden and assembly. What can help is marking the parts on the video. Jon Syc RC does it very well

Brian, love the Corsair I just got thanks to your video. One question, in future videos would it be possible to export your radio settings to a link? I followed this video the best I could but you go through it so fast. And this plane is new enough that spektrum doesn't have a template from what I can see. Thanks keep up the good work

Put it wherever you get the CG to work out. For us, and with many BNF Eflite planes, you can "get away with murder" with regard to battery placement, and still have the plane fly good. Just play with it and see what you like. CG is a technical spec, sure, but it also changes the way the plane flies, so make it fly the way you want.
