If I may add a little something. "The statue of the sitting Buddha" you are hugging in the video ? Well, it is actually Kobo Daishi, still Kukai at the time, the very fundation of the pilgrimage. It is very rude to touch it, you may want to keep this part out of the video. I watched out of curiosity, I may watch for other mistakes. You have a public, so you have a responsability to show good manners, to inspire others to behave well if they attempt the pilgrimage themselves afterward. Thanks

Thank you for the observation. I learned as I went. No one told me what can and can't be done. I won't change the video as this part of the journey. It's a video journal that I will cherish in my old days.

In my experience living in Japan for 17 years, Japanese are very tolerant of foreigners - especially those like you who take such an interest in Japanese culture and traditions. Don’t change the video, it is a part of your journey of exploration and learning.

@@jameszumwalt3660 I am one of the few foreigner official guide (sendatsu) of this pilgrimage. I work in tight connection with the local population and jushoku on the island. It is not okay, at this exact spot and many others, to touch this statue, especially for creating content on the internet. I get complains everyday when I am walking of foreigners misbehaving, and if you know japan, you also know that their patience is not to be tested. To promote such behaviour with little to none information, under cover of "I didn t know who kukai was, I received no information" is not a good way to promote the pilgrimage and the wonderful people who struggle to keep it alive
