I’m a hardcore Europa Fan but Efteling has a place in my heart that will never be removed. As much as I love Europa nothing can be compared to Efteling. Nothing.
A very nice detail in Villa Volta is one of the paintings standing next to Hugo the animatronic: they painted Ton van de Ven on it to honour him. He created Droomvlucht, Fata Morgana, Vogelrok, Villa Volta, Spookslot and half of the fairytales in the enchanted forest.

you often speak about the rides being short or a bit low on g-force/thrill but that's because Efteling is a family park first. It doesn't want teenagers hanging around and coming in for the thrill rides. It wants more family's. The saying goes that you go three times to the Efteling. Once as a child, once with your fianceé and again as grandparents.

I loved this vlog - not only did it show off this park tremendously, but it did something much more. This is the only video I've seen that encapsulates the feeling of what it's like to visit a new theme park in the summer. I know it's not new for you shawn but this really got me excited. There's something special about seeing lots about a park you know nothing about - and in such nice weather. Everyone seemed so happy. What I really love about the Efteling, is that they take theming very seriously. Most of the things are made and designed in-house. Even the roof tiles of the new Symbolica ride are custom made. I have been there many times. And every time they succeed to amaze me.

28:26 Of course the scale is amazing. In case you don't know: A ravelin is a triangular fortification or detached outwork, located in front of the innerworks of a fortress (the curtain walls and bastions). Originally called a demi-lune, after the lunette, the ravelin is placed outside a castle and opposite a fortification curtain. If such a thing is not detached, it is known as a bastion.
@PendelSteven2 жыл бұрын
Oh. Why named Raveleijn (and modeled after it)? The first ravelins were built of brick, but later, during the sixteenth century in the Netherlands. More specificly in the 16th century, near the border with Spain. That border is now +- with Belgium.

The Efteling started as a nature park in the early days (50s) nowadays they are still strictly with their natural environment. That's why the tree is in the queue of carnival festival. I don't know if it's grammatically correct what I'm saying, but you've got the idea :p
@koekeritisVideos7 жыл бұрын
The lasers in vogelrok were actually there from the beginning, not just that the queue used to go through a laser show, only they closed down not much later, because they had overestimated the size that the queue needed to be. There's still an empty room in the building where it used to be, but all of the laser effects have of course been taken out.

Still not sure if I'd be happy with a Villa Volta refurbishment. The language barrier is a pain for sure (the story makes the ride so much more memorable), and some nice refurbishment with some projection mapping in the pre-ride and ride sections could make the concept a lot more effective, but on the other hand, it's such a classic, maybe it should stay the way it is.. Hey Shawn! I really think you would like the Efteling more if you knew more about the history of the park. I think that will clear up some of the misunderstandings that happen a lot. You know, Efteling didn't really focus that much on visitors from other countries since a few years ago. I guess that's why it's not that clear for you all the time. But I have to say you already know a lot of important things! I'd love to tell you more about the place though. The Efteling has a very rich history, just like Walt's original Magic kingdom for example. Is there an other trip planned to the Efteling for you?

Speaking of Dark Rides, you should do a Top 10 Dark Rides (like your coaster one) and it would be interesting to see how it changes over the next few years with Symbolica and other dark rides coming out. I'm really wondering how the castles will compare (Symbolica vs. Forbidden Journey) and to see the different experiences. With all the new dark rides coming out, I'm not sure how much longer Forbidden Journey & Transformers will remain at the top of the dark rides. Its all depending on whether these parks can do them right!
