I went through this yesterday and completely agree! It would have been so easy to just list which cable was intended for the communication. Overall, the setup was much easier than I expected.

Man I wish you had a video on the build of the system in General. This is exactly what I have been thinking of doing in my KZ181bh 1(maybe 2) 48v EG4 with the Charger/inverter.... way simpler than the Victron systems people are putting in. I see your AC in lines and your AC out lines. Are you connecting directly into your Breaker/Fuse box and shore power line in your Wolf Pup? Also I see it's only been about 4 months since you posted this so not peak AC season.... but have you tried running your AC yet?

Can you make a video explaining.which battery type you got and how you have it wired to your appliances into the vehicle? Are you able to charge from your alternator?

I'm planning on it! I'll let you know when I publish my solar and electrical walkthough :) No alternator charging though, it's a travel trailer so it only charges from solar or shore power / generator.

Hi, nice video, thanks. I just bought those two units for my RV but haven't installed them yet. Is your inverter sitting flat on top of the battery? If so, it's not causing a problem? I prefer doing it that way instead of hanging it on a wall as they recommend.
@SmithOffGrid
@SmithOffGrid Жыл бұрын
Yeah I have it sitting flat on top of the battery. I previously had a Growatt 3000 sitting the same way and didn't have any issues. With this one the only problem was that I had to stick my head into the space I have it located to read the display, since it's higher up on the front panel than the Growatts. I ended up modifying mine to relocate the screen so it was easier to access. You can see it in my other EG4 3000 video but I haven't made a dedicated video for that yet. Only other thing I might do is create some spacers to improve the airflow between the two. Not in response to any issues but I figure it could help with longevity.

@@SmithOffGrid I finally assembled mine. Your video was a big time saver as I was pretty confused about the cable, thanks again. I reached out to signature solar and was told that installing the inverter flat, would void the warranty. So, I installed it inside my RV. It's working fine, except it gets loud at times. If the noise starts to bother me, I have to think of a new place for it but so far so good.

Do you have a problem with it over heating? The manual says it needs 19” of clearance on the top and bottom and I’m trying to figure out where to put mine.
@SmithOffGrid
@SmithOffGrid 2 ай бұрын
I haven't had any overheating issues. Sometimes if it's a really hot day I'll leave the door where I have them stored open so there's more airflow. Seems work fine however I have it though!

When did you get your inverter/how long have you had it? I got mine in May ish, and it looks different than yours? All of the posts and terminals are behind a removable cover. Also, I don't believe mine came with 2 cables. Have you set up your system with the app yet? I found the app quite confusing.
@SmithOffGrid
@SmithOffGrid Жыл бұрын
I got mine in October and it's the V2 version. Mine has a removable cover on the bottom as well, I just have left it off while I was setting it up. Maybe yours is the V1? Not sure about all the differences between the two of them. You can see pictures of both here: eg4electronics.com/downloads/#:~:text=Inverters-,EG4%203000EHV%2D48%20(V1),-deprecated%2D11.75%20inches I haven't set mine up with the app yet, I'll have to check it out!

It's my understanding that this unit has generator auto start wiring configuration on the bottom side, from a will prowse video... Can anyone tell me how to find videos instructing me on how? I want to make a off grid camper thing with primarily solar, when it bottoms out, auto crank my generator. Please direct me guys....

Having error code 19(no batt comm) I'm using just an ethernet cable from Walmart to connect to the batt. Do you think that's my issue? I didn't even look at the cables it came with lol! I will tho😅😅
@SmithOffGrid
@SmithOffGrid 5 ай бұрын
Yeah you'll probably need to use the cables that came with the inverter! Communication will only work if the pinout matches exactly so I doubt other cables will work
@chrislewis9345
@chrislewis9345 5 ай бұрын
@@SmithOffGrid yes that got the comms fixed but the main problem is I was under paneled. The least bit of shade stopped the charging. Put it in stand by mode and it will trickle charge but not in run mode. Have to add a panel lol
@jmrarick
@jmrarick 2 ай бұрын
It needs a minimum of 125v input to charge. It has a 500v max, so put your panels in one long series to achieve the required charging volts.@@chrislewis9345

where did you terminate the ground on the ac output in the trailer?
@SmithOffGrid
@SmithOffGrid 2 ай бұрын
I ran the AC output lines including ground to the AC panel of the RV. It's connected to a grounding bar there and the grounding bar is also connected to the RV frame

are you concerned about the battery getting cold?
@SmithOffGrid
@SmithOffGrid Жыл бұрын
We don't normally use our trailer in the winter so it hasn't been an issue. And since it's inside the trailer if the temp outside drops below freezing it doesn't cool the battery down that much. For the off chance we want to use the trailer in the cold I have been considering switching it out for the Trophy 48v since it has internal heaters: trophybattery.com/index.php/battery-models/model-48v100e-1/

Do NOT buy this device UNLESS you have at the LEAST 3 - 48v batteries. This consumes a huge amount of energy under no load conditions. I have to start my generator at night to recharge my batteries.
@HashWagon
@HashWagon Жыл бұрын
Do you know what the standby consumption is on yours? Will Prowse's said his is 65 watts which is 7 more than his Growatt.
