These hybrid SCC inverters are disrupting the market. In Europe we have ANENJI on two-day delivery from Germany at direct from producer prices, and each "generation" spans seems to equate to a production batch. The latest models have IoT remote performance logging and Smartphone integration. Next we will have models with predict-ahead and grid integration. I think I saw a din-rail mounted grid disconnect today for £25 - that's ridiculously cheap imho.

I've watched MANY videos from you and others that talk about the generator connection - sadly, nobody ever shows this in action ! Could you consider a video showing a real world application where the inverter switches the generator on to charge the batteries at a set point and the turns it back off once the batteries are sufficiently charged. This is a crucial step for any meaningful off grid application. Thanks in advance.

The manual has some nice hookup diagrams for usage (parallel, series, and even 3 phase), but ground conductors are not shown. Grounding is perhaps the most important part - can this be added to the manual? Also, per checkout by Will Prose, it seems like neutral and ground are bonded anytime you aren't using the AC input (and also stated in the manual). This is a safety hazard for the 120V/240V split phase configuration. With the neutral and ground bonded in each unit, any phase imbalance (normal) will result in current flow in not just the neutral wires but also the undocumented ground connection between the inverters. And since ground (and neutral) is tried to inverter chassis, you'll have a voltage potential between each inverter - which would be a shock hazard.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't the loads panel you're connecting the inverter to be the ground?
@coryvincent6249
@coryvincent6249 2 жыл бұрын
@@iRollWithPunches “ground” is problem with nomenclature any time you’re talking about a self derived system. The ground in your house isn’t primarily meant to be a connection to earth, however per NEC its a low impedance path back to the source. When you’re on the grid the return path to the “source” is the neutral on the utility transformer just before your service entrance. The ground wire in your home is bonded to the neutral at the service entrance so that any ground fault (current leaking somewhere other than the closed circuit it’s intended for) will be able to find a path back to the source, drawing a massive amount of current causing the breaker to trip (called clearing the fault). You can only have ground and neutral bonded in one place in an electrical system. In the case of using a single inverter NOT back feeding your main panel then you would want the bond to occur in the inverter. In the case of back feeding a main panel (even with the main breaker turned off) or using multiple inverters in parallel you end up with 2 ground neutral bonds. This gives the normal current 2 return paths back to the source, which means that current will travel along the ground conductor. This can cause anything that ground conductor touches, which should be the casing of every single appliance on the circuit, to possibly have voltage potential. TL;DR simply having an earth connection doesn’t change the fact that having multiple neutral/ground bonds in any electrical system is dangerous to the equipment and living things.

In the manual it states: --When the inverter is working in PV mode, battery mode, or standby mode, the output neutral is connected to the ground of AC output (neutral/ground bonded). --When the inverter is working in AC mode, neutral of output is disconnected to grounding of AC output and connected to neutral of AC input. So my take on this is your Sub Panel should not be bonded.

I like how the communication ports look a bit sturdier than the growatt inverters. But let’s get information on how much pv voltage and amps. Plus could you get one that has more power? I would like about 8000 watts with dual pv input with 500 volts each along with 30amps. Plus have it so it can be paralleled. Then we could use just 2 unit’s and have lots of power input and output. But I do like how the communication ports look heavier duty.

An important issue not explained in the manual. This inverter does not register the output of the solar panels, it only registers what it decides to draw from them. I was pulling my hair out because it appeared my system was woefully underperforming on sunny days and I could not establish even a rough correlation between light intensity and solar panel array output. I didn't want to put too big a load and draw down my AGM battery bank until the system performed better and the inverter would not draw (or display) what was available until I increase the load ( a Catch 22). I eventually discovered how this thing worked and am now happy. I'm new to this so I don't know if all the controller/inverters work this way, but a simple explanation in the manual would have saved hours of unnecessary trouble-shooting!

Question #1, So, I'm a bit confused by your video, is this a batteryless inverter? You had it initially running without a battery. Someone in the comments asked if it would run without a battery, and a viewer replied that it would not. Question #2, You also indicated it needs about 120V of solar to power on, if so; does that apply even if a battery is connected?

Just found these inverters...really cool. I am planning out a system for my RV. So can you set these up where AC IN is ONLY used for charging and AC OUT is only drawing from Battery or Solar? Also, PV input requires 120v minimum. I don't plan on any roof mounted solar, is there a way to use "suite case" style panels and get the minimum voltage required (120 volt) without having to carry around 3 or 4 400W "suite case" style panels? I am a newbie to all this.
@SignatureSolar
@SignatureSolar 9 ай бұрын
Hi @markk171 The 3k can not charge from Utility only; however, there is a Utility first. If Utility isn't available, the unit will look to solar for charging. With that being said, powering loads (Setting 01) will take priority over charging (Setting 16.) It doesn't matter the style of panels used as long as they produce a minimum of 120v; however, we recommend sticking closer to 200-250v as 120v is just the minimum to energize the MPPT. Power loads without issue will need more.
@markk171
@markk171 9 ай бұрын
@@SignatureSolar I guess what I am getting at is this...since I will be using only a small gas generator (initially) to charge the battery bank I would like the AC Output to only output from the battery bank not the AC Input so it won't overload the small generator while charging IF a large-ish AC out load is present..does that make sense?
@SignatureSolar
@SignatureSolar 9 ай бұрын
Gasoline generators typically output dirty power due high harmonic distortion (over 5%) and using this dirty power with the inverter will cause increased system degradation. Also, you can series the PV panels to stack voltage to meet the MPPT minimum voltage requirement of the MPPT. Make sure to ground the panels to their own Earth Ground. Turn off the AC Input source breaker if you don't want to use the AC input in any way.

@SignatureSolar
@SignatureSolar 9 ай бұрын
There is not an AC charge time setting on the 3k. If you are looking to charge off of AC only at night, solar will already charge the batteries during the day and all you will have to do is adjust setting 01 to SBU, 12 to whatever you want your battery cutoff to be, and setting 13 to whatever you want your batteries to charge up to.

In other words, can it be wired so I don't have to have a sub-panel or critical loads panel wired to the EG4, I just replace the grid's input to my existing split-phase panel with the AC output from the EG4 (solar, battery, generator) ??
@Electricology
@Electricology Жыл бұрын
You would need two of these to power a split-phase panel. It's also important the specifications match up. If you're pulling too much from the panel and it's traveling through the inverter or the battery it can be dangerous. I would definitely consult with an engineer for the specifics of the sizing of everything. Also, the utility company you're connected to might need to be informed or included. If they find out after the fact, they might penalize you.

If anyone reads this who has ANY KNOWLEDGE OR EXPERIENCE WITH SOLAR,PLEASE HELP. Ive never owned any type of solar system and was about to buy my 1st solar generator the bluetti ac200 max and came across this. I know the ac200 is very compact and plug and play but I feel for the 2000 dollars I can buy a all in one solar inverter and battery for the same price but would get more wattage output, higher solar input, higher/faster ac input/charging,and as times goes on just add parallel batteries for more watt hours. Can anyone give me there opinion on witch way I should go. Or suggestions for a solar generator system for around the 2000 dollar mark... THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ANY HELP YOU CAN PROVIDE!!!

3 60” tvs, 9 rooms of light fixtures, refrigerator, deep freezer, washing machine, electric dryer, air compressor, porch lights, phone chargers, computer, laptops, iPads, microwave, WiFi and internet box, motion lights, miscellaneous items, and occasionally table saw, high powered impact gun, and grinder. Furnace is gas 98% efficient and 3 ton high efficiency whole house a/c. As my wife and I are home during the day and I work nights there is always someone home doing something. So my question is what or maybe better how Many batteries and what type of amp hr and such would we need if we were out of power for a week. And how many solar panels would we need. And should they be ran in parallel or series or a combination of both? I am trying to find ball park answers before I budget for a solar system. If I decide to go in on solar I’m going all in.

That is not an easy question to answer without a lot of information. What is your geographic location? How large is your house? In a week long grid down scenario are you willing to be conservative with your electrical usage? A good place to start is your power bill as that will give you a good idea of your current power consumption per day in kWh. From there you can use one of the solar production estimation sites (there are several) to determine how much power you could expect on average to produce for your geographic location. Storage is another monster and will likely be the most expensive part of your system. I will attempt to give you a very generic answer anyway. A typical house might need in the neighborhood of 6-12kW of panels with 20-45 kWh’s of storage to be taken off grid. To take a house off grid, or run a whole home through a power outage you will either need to do some electrical gymnastics or have an electrician install an automatic transfer switch to eliminate the possibility of back feeding the grid and killing a lineman.

@@coryvincent6249 Thank you for the reply. One more question, when installing the panels how many panels need to be in series and how many need to be in parallel. Also thinking about it would I need 3 different combiners 1 for parallel 1 for series and 2 to combine them to charge a battery bank. I probably would want some ultra capacitors to handle spikes in current draw as to not overwhelm the battery bank.

When are we going to get a North America unit it only took twenty years to get a gas generator that put out 110/220 hopefully it doesn't take as long for inverters and solar generators or is it just a cash cow so the manufacturers make double the money selling two units with a combiner I'd like to see a unit that's able to either do 110/220 one unit not two

This comment is a good example of what people with a bad attitude will say behind the anonymity of a keyboard. I may not want to purchase their inverter but that doesn’t mean I’ll try to directly insult the people that produced the video. Actual people read the comments. And I’m sure they have tough skin. But that doesn’t mean you need to leave asinine comments about them. Their video quality has improved in the last few months and I’m sure it’ll continue to.
