Hi Will! I was wondering if you were considering to a future video/test using this new 6000XP connected to the 18K? My system is going to off-grid to start, but potentially could have the option to tie into the grid. So, I am currently planning to start with the 18K so I have the grid-tie option. The 6000XP looks like an option for future expansion of the system for future scaling of the system as higher power needs arise. Obviously, you could expand with another 18K, but the 6000XP (even 2 of them) looks like a more economical option.

I should've taken Will's suggestion & bought my system from Current Connected. Signature Solar had everything in stock so I went with them. A professional solar installer setup my system & everything was working perfectly for several weeks. Then 1 day out of the blue the inverter stopped working. At this point I've spent 2 weeks talking with tech support at Signature solar. I've done many test & sent photos of everything numerous times. The level 1 phone rep has finally agreed to move the support ticket to level 2. Hopefully this happens but 2 weeks without any real assistance is not good. It's a good thing I'm camping where I have full hookups or I'd have no power. I'll be using Current Connected from now on!

Thanks, Will. I bought mine with your discount code and it has been running half my house for several weeks. I have a transfer switch but no need to touch it. The 6000XP manages everything... my 240V pool motor and all of the 120V circuits at the same subpanel. Thanks for the tip on this great item. I installed it all myself using your guidance, had it checked by an electrician (I had done it right) and fired it up. I'm running 2 strings of 3960w of solar panels and 800AH of plain old LiTime batteries. I'm not happy that the only way to program the battery bank is to choose "Lead Acid" but it's working nonetheless. You are my hero, Will.

Hey Will! In face of more global wars can you please start testing whether these “Smart” connected appliances require actual internet or whether you can pull the data over wifi locally without exposing the network to internet? A lot of people do need smart access for monitoring and control and integration into local smart home systems like HomeAssistant. But last thing we’d want after building self-sustainable energy system is for it to be shutdown remotely due to politics/war.. Sorry for being negative, the mood is in the air. I had to hold my breath when you tried it as I had a feeling it was shorted out or the motor was locked. Glad you didn't blow the inverter up "whew!

The low test you were doing on that was pretty impressive. You went through a lot of trouble to get a lot of stuff together. However, the minute that motor pinged that breaker I knew that was short to ground been That is an unforgettable sound kind of a bummer that it happened during your demo, but still good info teaches other people different things

Another fantastic review. We're really seeing some great products and advancements. I would really like to see 600VDC max for PV input. Increasing series string capacity is really important to keep wire size down and/or increase run distance with larger wire.

Since it has the built-in circuit breaker for the battery connection, does this mean we no longer need a fuse (like the 400amp ones used commonly with the EG4 rack etc.)

Will! Blessing brother! There’s another guy named Will not far from you. His channel is called Will Survives. He’s living off grid an hour outside of Vegas I believe. He built a cabin but he doesn’t have a great solar set up. There’s also some ventilation and safety concerns regarding his indoor wood burning stove, and I believe he could use help with a battery powered exhaust system. His story sort of reminds me of your early story, and he could greatly benefit from the blessing of your knowledge. Anyways he’s in a race to get things set up before winter hits. Not my place to say but would make for a very wholesome and interesting collaboration. Cheers Will, lots of love for you

Will...Let me ask the question that many people are asking in other forums. I bought one 6500ex 4 months ago with plans to buy a 2nd one at the end of this year. My current 6500ex powers my entire house on 120v (everything except my a/c). The second 6500ex would allow me to also run my 3 ton a/c. Would you recommend that I buy the 2nd 6500ex or replace my current 6500ex with the 6000xp which would cost about the same but give me 220v? My house (without the a/c) never uses more than about 2000 watts at one time. Would a single 6000xp run that plus the 3 ton a/c (maybe with soft start)??? The 6500's seem so outdated now, cleaner install, better app monitoring, etc. Also, is the 6000 quieter? I built my current system using your guide. Thanks Will.

Hi Will, I am in South Africa and I have been using the LuxPower 5kW it's a great product. Initially, you sort of convinced me with the GroWatt, I ended up with LuxPower simple because of the two MPPT feature which Growatt didn't have. Actually here in South Africa they also sell the 3kW version. I stay in the farm, "country you will call it" I actually use it for mainly inductive loads borehole water, booster pump and few appliances in the house. Still to try it on my geyser (water heating) once I have 2nd string of PVs for other MPPT. (my geyser is rated 3000W @240v and drawing 62.5A in the battery and/or on 3300 PV array string doesn't sit well, cannot afford to blow anything up, these systems are relatively pricey this side, I see you guys refer them as the cheap - suppose one day you will ship me some unused batteries) One concern I have is the battery registration on the controller. I have a 100Ah (shoto)battery and it is read as a 50Ah on the inverter and many people have suggested different ways from updating firmware, to ensure option 3 is set to Lithium battery nothing is working. That said I have load tested the battery and it does give that 100Ah just that I don't know what the long term effect between the battery and the inverter if this left unchecked and the fact that I do want to increase the battery bank eventually. Lastly in my opinion they have done well in safety, one time I could swore that the inverter blew up the lighting affected the grid, the inverter took over the load and shortly after that the lighting struck, my fridge, borehole controller and electric fence were blown-up, the inverter tripped and I was so sure it was dead and to my surprise the inverter was perfectly fine!

Same question, the speck sheet says 120/240V AC input, but that wasn't enough for me to know for sure. The manual says: "It is a good rule of thumb to size your generator for at least 1.5x the output of the inverter to allow for powering loads and charging batteries." Still... so if you have no load can you use a 1000W generator??? (not totally clear to me.) It dis speck generator loads less than 30A, but no voltage, and no minimum given. So maybe you can charge batteries with an under-specified generator ???

Well that looks like just what I need to move away from the solar generators. Only thing I wonder, can you run only a 120 in at the generator? Will it just charge the battery and use the inverter for both output phases? I ask because I have just a 120 inverter that can only put out 3000 watts.. can you set the max on the generator input? Thanks for all your testing!

I had the same question. We could kind of hear when he was showcasing it at max load, and it did seem kind of loud. The spec sheet claims 52 dB or something like that. That doesn't give a real-world comparison, though. It would be great to know in relation to the EG4 6500W all-in-one, which I believe Will said was super loud compared with the 18k.

Can you do grid passthrough for 120V in and out (just L1 connected, and not an L2) and only have the 240V when you are on solar/battery? Basically I'm interested in using it in a garage where I only have 120V right now, but in the event of a power outage it would be handy to have 240V available from solar/battery.

The way MPP/Voltronics completely ruined the LV6548 just totally boggles my mind - still today. I'm ok with the way it parallels, the serial cable thing doesn't bother me. It's the idle screwup that occurred and the way they changed components half-way through so you have some that require v45 firmware and some that require v69. Oh, and don't try loading 69 to a 45-unit - I tried it thinking I could revert and it hosed the control board. Ha!

Will, one thing that I have a question with on this unit for you to test is. In an RV situation on the road, we would use a 50a-30a dog bone down, in cases where the 120v 30 amp is the only pedestal available. Can you please tell me if the inverter will still pass through the one leg of 120? Or would the unit just switch to battery if one leg is lost? Maybe a setting? Or something the manufacturer could make work In software?

Hey Will, how do you think this would work as a sudo ups. I was thinking of using one of these with 4x 48v 100ah batteries. In a power outage, use a generator to charge the bank. Then recharge as batteries are depleted. That way generator wouldn’t have to run 24/7 say running a furnace and refrigerators
