My female cockatiel was heavily breathing and after two days she layed one egg after that her heavy breathing stops. Now it's 9 th day and she is again on heavy breathing problem with no egg....what should I do...here no avain doctors available.

Please advise us on what percentage of calcium or company that's a good reputable powdered calcium supplement is good because I have a female that's not laid any eggs yet, shes a young zebra finch. I really am not fond of the idea of any eggs in wasnt aware of this happening so fast. Thank you sooo much !!!

My avian vet told me to crush up Tums and sprinkle it onto my female parakeet's daily seed (yes, the chewables for indigestion made of calcium carbonate).

So I’m female budgie is swollen near the bottom. She’s been to the vet like a month ago for sickness behavior and it costs a lot and for the past two days she’s been swollen, she’s pooping fine and is happy as can be. Idk if I have the kind of money to take her to the vet again so soon but I don’t know what’s causing it. :(

I just paid an avian vet in metro Atlanta $380 tor an egg bound female parakeet who has no/never had a mate. The vet kept her for 22 hours and the cost was MUCH less than for just the overnight fee for any emergency overnight my dogs have needed. The biggest reason I took her to the vet and DID NOT follow YT videos to help a budgie get an egg out was the fear of her egg breaking/cracking inside of her -- if this happens, your budgie likely would not survive unless an avian-experienced vet was right there and immediately available to TRY to safely remove the broken shell pieces. Based upon your comment, it would not be possible the current bound egg had even been formed a month ago when you took her to the vet. However, if she had a vitamin and/or mineral deficiency a month ago, it's unlikely she has been able to fully restored those V & M I'm just a month.

she died my bird died today at the vet form this we drove her to a vet hospital they told us she should stay over night and she died

Sadly that can be the case where some can’t be saved. The best thing is to prevent it from happening rather than curing it when it happens. I hope you’re okay, and if you have other birds they will be okay with the correct preventative measures
