Nearly 37 weeks pregnant 🤰; spent all night with stomach cramping, hips hurting, and have had diarrhea since last night (probably a mix of switching to a ketovore diet recently + nearly at term + having an IBD); feeling down and discouraged... Thanks, SBG, for this recipe, it's helping me nurse myself today, even though it's the middle of the summer🌞! I won't finish the whole pot due to my baby pushing on my stomach and not being able to put away food as you do in the slightest haha - I did one pound ground beef (grass fed)🐄, - About 1.5 large eggs to mix with beef🥚 - About 2-3 cups Chicken broth (salted thoroughly because it was "reduced sodium") mixed with about 2-3 cups water🐔 - A bit of ground coriander to broth - About 3.5 eggs for egg drop🥚 This was so comforting and so delicious! 😋

Hey SBG I am at 76 year old white guy, and I love watching you fix your rather simple dishes and you really enjoying them. It's just fun to watch someone who seems to really be in love with life. I still work full-time in my video production business which is mostly just transferring old stuff into new digital stuff. Going to try your meatball egg drop soup tonight, but I'm going to use chicken broth and sorry but a little bit of salt and pepper. Keep up the great work.

For many, many years now, the ONE thing that makes me feel better when I am sick (bad cold or stomach issues or just generally feeling miserable) is a good, rich egg drop soup. For some reason, since I moved to the CA Central Valley, I've had a reeeeellllly hard time finding REAL egg drop soup. What they call egg flower soup is a weak, floury poor substitution. So obviously I'm going to have to make my own. Thanks for this!!!

So I have been making this for a while now, I love how simple yet satisfying it is. Last 2 times I forgot to put an egg into the ground beef and just dropped the little rolled meat balls in as they were. And nothing fell apart and they were very juicy. In fact as I am rewatching this video, I am only now realizing I left off the egg. There is literally no perceptible difference when you make meat balls with or without the egg. I would much rather put more eggs into the water for the « flower » part 😋

Similar to Mexican albondiga soup. There's a version of albondigas where you hard-boil eggs, peel them (obviously) and then wrap the ground beef around the boiled eggs and then you cook as usual. I might do this version with egg flower also with hard-boiled egg meatballs. Lots of egg, but you can never have enough eggs and meat.
