I love my egg genie! For my poached eggs I will rub down the inside of the poach tray with coconut oil. after cooked, turn it upsidedown and tap or light shake the tray. The eggs will pop out beautifully! Absolutely love those things!
@trollgrgg26722 жыл бұрын
For poaching eggs you should spray the tray before you start the cooking, When They are done you can tip the tray to one side and the egg will almost drop out. If it doesn't you can use an ordinary butter knife (not the shovel that you seem to like) around the edges and it will pop out easier with no mess.
@shadowtheimpure11 жыл бұрын
You should have sprayed the poach tray with non-stick cooking spray. That will allow the poached eggs to slide right out.

We have these things everywhere, in Holland. Very common. A quick tip, from experience, poke the hole in the BOTTOM, the round end. Less prone to cracking or leaking. Always poke the bottom! And really, just peel em from the top, even soft boiled eggs can be peeled like that, then just eaten from the shell, or scooped from it onto bread, or salad, or whatever. You get used to it pretty quickly. There's also a trick of rolling them on the counter with your hand, I believe? Don't remember it exactly, but it basically makes it super easy to take off the shells in two halves. You'd probably have to look that up, but yeah, you get used to peeling and cooking eggs really fast.

this is absolutely ridiculous! These electric egg boilers are sold in Germany ever since the 1920s or 1930s. They are nothing special in Germany, everybody knows them and in the US they sell them as Egg Genie all brand new? ROFL

Most poached egg devices require you to either spray lightly with cooking spray or add a half a teaspoon of water into each tray prior to cooking.I have a microwave poached egg device, a tray of 2 eggs & I simply add the half teaspoon & they 'flop' right out,no mess.Did the Egg Genie have the same suggestion on the instructions? Perhaps if you try that & it works, U can make a part II video addendum to this one. BTW, I bought the microwave egg poacher for like $2 at the grocery store & it works!

You have a good ear. No offense taken. It wasn't the camera. It was the clip microphone that I was wearing. It was crackling in the beginning because of low batteries. I didn't know that until we went to edit. I have since replaced all the batteries and will keep an closer eye on it. Thanks for watching. The video is still processing so it won't be HQ for another hour.

@angelpichu1 poaching an egg is either steaming or boiling. Cooking an egg using water and not fat / oil. That is poaching.

Hey Jack. Small suggestion with getting your soft boiled egg out of the shell without breaking the White or the Yolk. After boiling them (in the egg steamer or 6mins in a pot) put the eggs in cold water (a bit of ice helps here). Cool them till they are easy to handle. Don't worry they will still be hot inside. Crack them by tapping on the table top a few times and peal. The shell will come off easy in big pieces and you won't snag the White or rip it. I do this every time and rarely do I break my boiled egg. Even when it's got runny yolk. :)
@a.s37289 жыл бұрын
Amy Seed Or just cut top bit off the egg and eat it from it's shell with a tea spoon. That's how I've eaten my boiled eggs since a kid. I don't know if that's popular in the U.S. Cooling the eggs in cold water does work. I just replace the boiling water in my pot with cool water and leave them for a couple of minutes. When the water is about tepid, the eggs are perfect temperature.

I agree, non-stick spray might help though I can also poach an egg perfectly in the microwave in about 1.5 mins. I do however think this is great for hard-boiled eggs which I eat 6 egg whites per day and it's nice to not have to think about cooking them right or forgetting to set a timer.

I have something similar, it's by Cuisinart, I think. It works really well, and I found that to get the poached eggs out, you just spray the tray with a bit of Pam, or according to my instructions, 'lightly butter' it. Then, they will slide right out. Personally, I just use water, and carefully slide a rubber spat around the edges. But if you ask me, you can only make a real poached egg with a pot of water. Makes great soft and hard boiled, though.

Question..... Always with any type boiled egg I put in very cold water for at least a minute or so and then crack & peel the shell. Makes it easier and comes right out. Also when poaching them I do believe you used the wrong spatula. It was of the rubber made material and way too big. They make the very small ones now out of silicon and those would work great.
@xXxgothxlovexXx11 жыл бұрын
It probably says somewhere in the directions that you glanced at that you need to spray the poaching tray with non-stick spray.

Multi Purposed creation, I like it. About the sticky shredded poached eggs from the last experience... I would have washed/dried/ and primarily shine coated the 4 poached egg tray with oil slightly decreasing cooking time, then quickly flip over the result unto a clean presentation plate hoping freshly poached and oil seasoned eggs would not break. Cheers!

Electric egg cookers are very common in Europe, they are well worth the $20-30 more so if you like soft boiled eggs or just like to eat eggs often. Eggs are done in about the time it takes to get water boiling in a pot. Never had an egg crack on me, always got the expected result. I have the Krups 7 egg, similar price and concept. I haven't tried a side by side test, but i swear steam cooked eggs are easier to peal as well. Also these are perfect for barracks/dorms, eggs are cheap, tasty, filling and high protein. Had one in my barracks room years ago, always hard boiled eggs in the fridge for quick snacks and it got a ton of use.

heres a tip for pealing eggs, if you roll a boiled egg along a counter surface it breaks the shell almost perfectly for you to just pull it off in one go if you do it right:)
@angelpichu114 жыл бұрын
btw what does the little egg cup on the side of the thing do?
@Rennock7179 жыл бұрын
First of all, soft boiled eggs are supposed to be served in an egg cup and only the top of the shell is to be removed. You add seasoning to the egg inside the shell and eat it with a spoon. You can also tip thin pieces of toast into the egg yolk (this is how the English eat them). Secondly, the use of cooking spray will allow you to easily remove the poached eggs from the tray. Years ago, some pots can with egg poaching trays that had individual metal cups fitted into a tray that sat in the pot above boiling water.

Hello I have one of these, The main annoying part is that it does not turn itself off but if I am cooking other stuff at the same time I can hear the buzzer. For the soft boiled eggs once cooked I start at the top, bang on surface then peel, As you peel downwards try and peel the shell and the membrane. Mine does not have the poached part but my poached egg pan says to put half a tea spoon of water in each section and that seems to work Andy C
