Probably another over engineered dry fly that I should not have bothered with. I am sure it won't long survive contact with a Trouts teeth! Still half the thing of tying our own flies is that we can try these things out put our own twist onto things. Who knows to might be one of the best most effective patterns for trout that you have ever tried.
Don't get caught in the trap of sticking to the beaten path and following the recipe. Use your imagination it is a fly tiers greatest tool!

A different concept to represent egg laying there Lindsay. I've often added an egg ball to sedge and spinner patterns with good results. You must keep us updated when you try out this detached egg pattern. 👍

I went right to the bench and tied some of these up. Several of your patterns (sedges especially) have become confidence patterns for me. Even if the egg sack doesn't help (and I think it will) the fly is worth tying on its own merits. I'll let you know if how they do. Thanks!!

I bought some of these many years ago in a moment of madness. I asked the seller what the point of the trailing egg was and he said that it helps create more water disturbance.
