Loved this video. My kids and their friends are at that age of getting married and with the US current situation in heading to a recession, soon to head into a Depression, this is a perfect gift. Now I need to start practicing.

Ah, this method makes sense. I was watching another tutorial where the background pieces were cut out and stitched to the patched arches. The amount of clipping, twisting and stretching was crazy to get everything assembled. I thought 'why in the world wouldn't the arches be appliqued?' as it would be so much easier. This tutorial is great.

Love this pattern!! The video is so easy to understand, thank you!! My biggest problem is wondering how to know how much fabric of each print/color is needed? Help!!!❤️
@darbfred127 жыл бұрын
The amount of fabric depends on which size and type of quilt you plan to make. If all the arcs are from the same fabric and not pieced, you'll need more of that one fabric. If the arcs will be different fabrics, or if the arcs will be pieced using the "Pieced Arc Template," you'll need less of each individual fabric. Here's a bit of info from the pattern: If you're going to make a lap/twin sized quilt, you'll need 1-6 fabrics for the arcs, 3/4 yard EACH. Fabrics 7-8 are for the jewels and you'll need 1/2 yard of EACH. If all the jewels are the same fabric, double the yardage. Fabric 9 is the background and you'll need 3 1/2 yards for lap or 5 1/2 yards for twin size. Of course you'll need backing, batting and binding fabrics, too. I have used the pre-printed interfacing and also traced my own. Either works well, though pre-printed is more expensive. But...it saves a lot of time. I'm wondering what is the size of the triangle she uses for the jewels?

Hi I really enjoyed this tutorial and I intend to try it out. I got the template for the arches and the interfacing from you as well. One question please, are the size ( height and width ) of the template for the arc always the same size? Or are there different sizes? Also is there a reason for cutting the pieces for the arc so big and then the interfacing is so much smaller and you have to cut off so much extra? I hope I explained myself in a way you can understand me !!!! Thank you and I hope you will have a Healthy and Good 2017.

Fun fact I found out when I got stitches. Hospitals throw away the hemostats b/c it's cheaper than trying to sanitize them. If you ask for them, they will give them to you. At least my hospital does.

Jo Stovall Eleanor recommends Kona cotton in white. Kona cotton is a better quality fabric than muslin.

I love the simplicity here, but could someone tell me how to make the dbl wedding ring quilt withOUT the (yellow) square corners! I’d prefer the four pieces in the center, thx!!! Or does she have a video of that different center!?

What is the name of the acrylic template called? Can you buy the arch template in acrylic also ? love the plain coloured quilt.
Lady, You never cease to amaze me. Thank you Eleanor. I purchased the kit for the Nouveau Wedding Ring Quilt, but it doesn't have the small template and I love this pieced one also. Its beautiful and you have made it simple. However I do need the small template for cutting the ring pieces. What is it called and is it sold seperately. If so where can I get it please? Thanks again. BTW, I have two grands getting married next year.
I have the Pieced Arc Template and pre-printed interfacing. What size is the triangle used for the jewels?

love this pattern but gosh when you cut that ring at 8:31 you sure lost a lot of the fabric - oh my

I purchased fabric to make this and made a "test arc" to see how I liked the fabrics together. I, too, noticed the waste when trimming the arc. Using scrap fabric, I made another one. The plastic template measures 3" high so I cut the scrap fabric 2 1/2" high. I have not sewn a piece of interfacing to it as I don't want to waste the interfacing. But laying it on top with the center marks aligned, it will fit with much less waste.
@sandyrichmond25706 жыл бұрын
for me it’s easier to work with oversized pieces than smaller ones so I don’t mind the waste. That’s why I like Elenor’s style of quilting

You say in the video to use 4” squares cut in half diagonally for the corner pieces, but the corner template is 2.5” square. Why the discrepancy?

I really enjoy Elenor's tutorials, however the waste of fabric is a pity, as I am sure in the 1930's every scrap would be saved.

I don’t understand why you use 3” tall templates when your arc template is only 1.5” high. You just end up trimming away half of the height of each arc after sewing the fusible on. Why not just use smaller templates to begin with so as not to waste half the fabric? 🤔
