We have 10 eggs in the incubator to get a few more spring hens. Anyone else hatching eggs in the dead of winter?

Luckily for us, the chickens started again. Getting at least 5 eggs a day... for a family of 4/2 small kids - thats not bad at all. Garden prep started this weekend - have to plant the onions & other things pretty soon.

From what I have seen the center of the country is not having as much trouble as the two coastal areas. Our prices have gone up, but not near as much as what I'm hearing from especially the East Coast. Is this due to distribution problems or production?

I agree that it seems to be worse in those regions and the supply chain is pretty screwed up all over I see it in my business a lot. I saw conveyor chain for a living and our prices are up 33% over the last 3 years and in the past we 25 years our average price increase was about 5% every 4 or 5 years.. but it being worse in those regions could point to a shortage of product too.. kind of a half a dozen of 1..../6 of the other scenario.....both are bad and I think both are to blame.
