As A Beretta guy, Watching this test makes me ill. My wife inadvertently dropped my Beretta92 from a height of 3 feet directly onto the hammer and that made me ill but no issues with the Firearm function or performance.... This was gut wrenching to watch...

Everytime Ernest dropped it, it didn't make me wanna puke, it made me wanna do it / see it AGAIN to see what would fail because I want the data and the reassurance its not going to break or fire. So thank you for doing this Ernest, very much appreciated. Lol, our self defense guns are suppose to be tools, they should be able to pass simple drop tests. Scratches and dings shouldn't make yall sick lol.

I wouldn't give a damn about dropping my Glocks, my M17 or my PX4 Storm LTT. Wear marks and dings are badges of honor. But for me, the 92 LTT and Berettas in general are visual works of old world art and at $1500 (all bells and whistles ordered) not something I would intentionally abuse. Kind of like the Casio watch I wore to NTC, JRTC and deployment, no biggie. But the Rolex Submariner I inherited from my grandfather which is my civie daily, no way in hell that was going anywhere near that shit environment.

There was an article i got done reading about the Cz shadow and TS model guns of how they are not safe if they are dropped because they don’t have a firing pin block , there was an accident about a year ago where an RO got killed in a shooting competition in NY , the gun fell and the round hit the RO , as I see the beretta LTT is a superior gun in many aspects and at the same time has the quality of a competition gun . I’ll be buying one soon

I'm curious, where those Mec Gar mags or factory mags? Also since I have never seen drop testing with a loaded mag is this normal?

I am not sure it is cool to mention names. Current beretta magazines appear to have metal inserts in the plastic foorplates to reinforce them against this sort of thing. At around 9 minutes after the second mag let go and he reloaded the mag on camera, he loaded 18 rounds. I do not know what the standards he references specify, but drop testing should logically be performed in the worst case operational configuration. Which in this case would be the additional mass of a loaded magazine.

A miss fire during a drop is not good, but the magazine floor plate breaking and emptying the magazine is just as bad. This is more of a concern to me. The pistol is useless at that point unless you have another loaded magazine at hand. Removable floor plates is a convenience we may not want.

Yes, I made a video of that years ago. In single action, even if the hammer drops, it only drops to half cock. Perfectly safe to drop with the hammer cocked as well. We were really testing the firing pin block here. For that, hammer down is the worst case.

MecGar makes them, and they are great. They have also made some changes to the catch plate and bottom to keep this from happening. Keep in mind, 6 feet onto concrete is a worse case situation.
