I've had this same mower for almost 6 years (coming up July 2023). I did push my battery to the max multiple times because have a large yard with foot tall grass that I've mowed. Last year noted was giving out faster & this year is even more. BUT... for me that's fine because I'm an older lady who could use a cool down break too. So the mower battery & I are kind of simpatico on taking a cool off recharge break after mowing. Sometimes I say to stop before it does & sometimes it says to stop before me, but I just take several days to slowly get in my daily walking with mowing. It's been a great mower. -- Recently bought the new EGO weed whacker with the auto load function, which is great in first use. Yesterday put in the smaller newer battery in mower. I was mowing at night with a head lamp, so got in a bit of extra mowing time. Cooler, so as a human then I could go longer. Mower battery gave out before I did that time. -- Trying to decide whether to upgrade to a riding mower. I love this mower & would recommend! Lasted longer than my last gas push mowers & I don't want to ever go back to gas containers / belts / oil / filters / noise / fumes / hot engine again!!

You’re lucky that you haven’t run into the problem that many Ego mower owners have: intermittent shut off of the mower. There are many theories about what causes this. Most of them involve the wiring from the handle to the mower. I have to constantly deal with this shut off, to the point that I seldom manage to get through an entire mowing without the mower quitting.

I will be honest the ego cut quality is pretty terrible. Tons of stragglers left and even with the high lift blade it is still meh.

I got this mower for 5 years now . One time it was fully submerged in water due to flooding. It didn't seem to affect it at all. It's been a really good mower. Only issue is if you leave your grass too long your battery won't last. I had it kicking in overdrive for the majority of my yard needing at least 2 full batteries

I brought a one of these at the beginning of summer and it’s the best mower that I have ever used. I like it so much that I now look forward to cutting my grass.

When they run, they are great. Mine is 3 years old and each year the self propelled portion quits working for a few months then starts again...until this year. I've tried calling EGO as instructed numerous times with only getting a recorded message and never a person or a returned call. This spring the self propelled still is not working even with new battery. Lowes and Ace do not service them nor do any lawn mower places that I have called,(and I called many). Ego does not respond. I guess consider this an expensive disposable mower. Note: A day after I wrote this I got a call back from EGO customer service. I am to be getting a replacement in 5-10 days!

Every 5 - 6 hours of operation I sharpen the blade to rival any razor blade. The mower glides through 2 - 3 inch tall grass without having the electric motor speed up. When I do hit some densely packed weeds the motor speeds up and knocks 'em down. I keep two 7.5 Ah batteries on standby when its time to change over to a fully recharged one. Now that EGO has come out with a 10.0 Ah battery, I'll be buying one of those too. I am so impressed with the products EGO makes, I bought a string trimmer as well as a chain saw. My next purchase will be a leaf blower. In the hot central Texas summer, I mow at night. The two LED headlights are more than adequate for me to see where I'm going. I treat this battery powered mower just like I used to treat a gasoline powered mower: Use it like you hate it. Mine has the battle scars to rival the gasoline powered jobs.

@mosfet5003 жыл бұрын
Batteries are rated in cycles and cycle are relative to depth of discharge. EGO rates their batteries at 800 to 1200 cycles at full discharge so if you don't discharge fully each mow you will get more cycles. So, if you mow 6 months of the year - 26 weeks 800/26 = 30.76 years. With that said I think EGO overrates the cycles so let's say you'll get 400 cycles, that's 15 years of battery life. Also batteries are getting better and cheaper so in 10 or 15 years they will like cost less and last longer. My suggestion is to get a big enough battery so you're not completely discharging it every time.

OOOOk, Ive had mine 3 yrs. Its a good thing that I can fix things!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ive had to replace the entire wire harness due to intermittent self propelled problems. Rear Wheel bearings had to be replaced. Self-propelled motor replaced due to, wouldn't disengage to push freely. I mulch always, that reduces battery usage time. I have to recharge 1/2 way through, 7.5 maH. The 5maH batts. may help to get me more time, but they only last a few more minutes. I'm also thinking it's not good if you hose off the mower. Every thing acts up, doing this! Even though, all these issues, I still don't want petrol.!!!!!!!!!!!

As many other reviews note, this line of mowers work great, but have many drive motor AND failures of the three safety switches (one of which combines with the On/Off switch) and their associated wiring that is prone to pinching/shorting that will cause the blade motor to not come on. Then the warranty repair process commonly takes 6 to 10 weeks. Again though, when it is working I love it...

I’ve had a 20” push EGO for 6 years now. At year 3 I had to have it repaired (in-warranty), but it took a month to get it done. Now at year 6 and out of warranty it has failed again, but finding a repair place has been difficult. I finally found a place (via EGO’s info), and depending on the repair estimate and time to repair it, I may opt to just get a new mower. The EGO still looks like the leader, but Greenworks is pretty much on par with it.
@DJ_Driven2 жыл бұрын
I use mine for about 2 to 3 years before I sold it to my neighbor. Still going strong but the battery has degraded where it doesn't have enough juice to finish the yard and we both have small yards. Another thing you didn't mention is intermittently when rolling backwards the gears will lock up if you ever use the self-drive it's as if the clutch sticks. Also due to the low deck height if you intend to use for begging for example when doing leaves the vacuum pickup is very low compared to a Honda gas mower for example. I'm probably going to buy another one when they improve the deck height and go with the 1000 battery pack for longer run time.

I am on second season with my EGO mower. Works great so far, except for the blade sharpness. I cut 1/4 acres of lawn in about 2 1/2 hour with this mower. The blade goes dull on me in about 3-4 cuts. So I have to sharpen it pretty much every month! That compared to my old Toro mower is a big hustle. Other than that, nice mower, and very informative video. Also, keep in mind that with 21" EGO in mulching mode, you only cut 10" on each pass at best. Otherwise, the clipping will clog the deck. The battery holds the charge amazingly well.

I've heard terrible things about customer service from EGO. My impression is if you're lucky enough to buy a perfect machine you're golden and I assume this is likely. However, if you have a bit of bad luck and get a machine with something wrong then you're in a bad place because of the customer service. I'm talking about the mowers only. I haven't researched their other products. If anyone disagrees I'd love to hear about it.

Ego customer service is horrible. And getting a mower worked on is hard. If you’re lucky enough to find a Lowe’s to work on it, plan on not having it for most or all of a cutting season. I bought mine at an Ace Hardware. They don’t work on mowers.
@SmallTownInTexas3 жыл бұрын
Bought in 2016, motor failure in 2019. 3 months later they ship a replacment mower but warranty does not restart. Replacement does NOT speed throttle on load; one speed, period. August 13, will not start, warranty expired. Handle extension switch failed and had to be bypassed. When it runs, it cuts. ROI is horrible compared to gas at the need to replace every 2 or 3 years at $400. Most people would not have been able to diagnose failed switch.

Yes, the initial outlay was higher than a gas model, however when you factor in the cost for gas, oil, etc. I figure I've come out ahead. I love not having to worry about storing gasoline around the house and I don't have to worry about draining the fuel at the end of the season, which I failed to do several times in the past over the years, which resulted in repair costs.

Our lawn looks like the grass was forced into circular patterns and beat down. If I could "comb" the grass blades back into an upright position, the grass would look like a bad haircut with some of the blades cut and most others sticking up needing to be mowed again. We mowed it again, changing the height and a bit more was cut but the same, beat down, appearance was evident. It's been mowed again and most blades are lying down flat on the ground. This can't be happening to other users of this mower. Ideas anyone?
