A bit like foo fighters (deeper wells)😁 many years ago i prayed for this type of music to be Christian as i thought it would sow GOD'S WORD into the today generation who would otherwise never listen to christian music if it wasn't rocky or india/alternative style (im an old rocker and was into punk ,heavy metal etc- drugs ,so ive lived the dangerous and crazy life before JESUS came into my life and changed me in my heart and mind to grow in HIM and serve in HIS KINGDOM..i was so messed up from early childhood from the abuse and madness, we will always be a work in progress till that day.! I respect everyone's struggles and suffering and I get that some need religion to cope with this world that *we* make worse, but please stop trying to promote false medicine onto others... We need to wake up to what we are and how we should change in practice, not to continue hiding behind things that are even often used to keep us asleep for even longer... Btw, I don't hate religion since, in my view, it was originally made up to do good. But we should be able to unite without praying to anyone, but by being truly considerate and supportive (without telling lies tho, we need the right foundation, and gotta face reality in order to fix the wrong...). All these don't matter of course, regardless of how many times I type them, few care and understand and I think it's too late already, because we let our stupidity win and we recycle it and all its forms (selfishness, hypocrisy, immaturity, hate, cynicism, nihilism, greed, and so on), every day. Many of us become part of the problem by choice, we let our insecurities/complexes win. I hope we'll understand that by hating and exploiting everything and wanting revenge from the world like some seem to do, we also hurt ourselves. But it'll never happen. I wish there was a god to open our eyes but it seems even if one exists, even gods cannot do that ;/ Also, I know many (fake) christians who are truly petty and don't love anyone, nor they want to unite. If followers and the professional representatives of God, and supposed lovers of his creations, are fanatical, hypocritical, murderers/rapists, or delusional lunatics who think they see miracles and offer their money to obvious exploiters and liars, and stuff like that, then maybe the only hope we have is elsewhere... or rather, nowhere, but we must keep trying till it's finished (again, due to our (in-)action and the huge lies we tell to ourselves).

p.s. enjoy what you can and stay strong-ish... but stand on your feet like you do, without expecting help from above. We only got each other, those who really are humans and not zombies driven by shortsightedness and greed anyway... the obstacles (and own goals) are endless but we should unite for real, discuss and understand each other.

I wanted to like this EP. The sound, is better than Palms...but lyrically, I struggled with it as much as Palms. It seems like Dustin's selling an idea that we just need to give each other big hugs and everything will be fine. (Yes, an oversimplification, I know.) Oh how I miss the days of Major/Minor.
@thebear94745 жыл бұрын
Are you by chance religious?
@thebear94745 жыл бұрын
I only ask because a lot of religious folk seem to really dislike the newer lyrics. I personally love that his lyrics have become more humanitarian than they've ever been. I love the angle he's taken, saying that people don't need to follow the divide that's been ingrained in us by society all our lives. Slightly more repetitive for sure, but I really feel like just as much importance and meaning.
@Mr.Christopher30005 жыл бұрын
@@thebear9474 Unknowingly, I'm sure, but that's a trick question as it can be loaded with tons of pre/misconceptiions. Nonetheless I welcome questions of all types. Unfortunately, I get lumped into that category as I follow Jesus -loving all people, all the time, without condition. I see what you're saying and agree, I too, hate the walls we've built that divide. Which is precisely why I follow Jesus. However, where I think Dustin's msg falls short is in the ephasisis of accomplishing a caring and compassionate society in and of ourselves....I humbly submit that this is just not possible.
@Zsiledifyshk5 жыл бұрын
@@Mr.Christopher3000 Alot of these songs are more political in nature. If you look at it in that sense, it makes a lot of sense. I don't see as much a moral conflict throughout the lyrics but it's more about taking a political stance and letting it run your life (like A Better Bridge is outlining)/defining who you are while shirking those "lesser" than you.
