Cairo puts you in this mind state that a scam is around the corner so you're on defence by default and here In the most "Dangerous" part of Cairo I meet the nicest people and only after I get back to my hotel, I truly realise a complete stranger payed for my ride.( if anyone has his contact let me know ) The hospitality in Dar Al Salam was the best I experienced in Cairo.

Truly awesome vlog Tom!! generally Egyptians are truly nice people & I am really glad you got to experience that at some level. Are you traveling to other parts of Egypt next? by the way, if I may, to say South Africa in Egyptian phonetically it's "Ganoob Afriquia" slightly different but it'll be easier for them to understand. Also, "Athar" or "Assar" means historical monuments. Hope you don't mind the help :)

It is beautiful and at the same time sad to see that such simple people are there in these conditions because of bad governments. People deserve to live with dignity, even more so when they are hardworking and kind like these. I believe they are happy, even in their simplicity. I want the world to become a better place for everyone. May everyone enjoy good living conditions without so much inequality.

Few observations; I felt as though there was an underlying sense of potential chaos that could have erupted at any point;the locals knew it, Tom knew it....yet nothing bad happened and that's what makes the tea session so amazing Very fascinating yet very unfortunate that some of the locals were illiterate (couldn't read the hotel address on the card), yet they were so kind and down to earth and all smiles It was very funny when you were driving off in the toktok and they were asking you questions, you didn't understand, one of the guys would ask his friend to translate only for the second guy to repeat the same phrase in Arabic slower 🤣 Extremely nice for the locals from the, supposedly, most dangerous neighborhood in Cairo to pay for your trip out. All in all, amazing amazing amazing video

Hi Tom, I’m Egyptian and in case you see my comment I just wanted to translate some of the things those guys were saying to you at the Toktok parking .. They were basically trying to entertain you as their guest .. they asked if you saw the pyramids or any other touristic sites, another one tried to compliment you by saying Germany is the number one industrial country in the word, and a third guy even tried some jokes about your scar and asked if you were basically a butcher. They also did some bargaining with the taxi driver to make sure he doesn’t overcharge you. One tip: try to take a long someone you trust on the days you wanna have some conversations to translate for you what they’re saying, as those people usually have rich characters and very interesting lives, and their stories can potentially make you shit yourself laughing 😂 Loved your video and stay safe and careful.
@tom_aku Жыл бұрын
Thank you for taking the time to write this nice translation. Yes, I understand the language barrier is a problem sometimes even so they made me feel welcomed and treated me well, the men in the toktok centre are good people and should definitely work in tourism, maybe one day I'll return and if I do I'll bring someone to translate for me.

I'm from Saudi Arabia and I understand what they say I gotta tell you that they're a very very good people even when you wanted to leave to your hotel the guy in the dark blue sport outfit he told the driver to take from you the same that he takes normally from any Egyptian citizen and the driver said I'll gladly not take anything if it's needed you're out guest and when you were sitting they tried to open a conversation with you by praising the industry in Germany and how great are the German people with their own industries and manufacturing. Great people indeed they seemed really honest and genuine with you and happy to have you there this is refreshing to show the good side of the country not always the ugly side and they were laughing when you pointed at the kids they were like "He knew that if he goes there he's gonna be swarmed lol" and they were praising how smart and that you got the vibe really fast and quick on your feet. they never said anything bad or suspicious they been honest and kind and humble the whole time I really loved watching them enjoying you being there it touched my heart ❤

Dude, you go to places that I believe no tourist would ever go there due to different reasons if you catch my drift. So, you gotta bear with them there being astonished and somewhat skeptical of seeing a foreign dude roaming around in their neighborhood while filming which is kinda odd. Although they welcome you with open heart, a few of these people speak/understand barely English, some are uneducated, and struggle to make ends meet. At the end of the day, you gotta watch out for sus and anyone tries to take advantage of you. So, you've experienced almost everything in Egypt the food, local transportations, stray pets, and all the other shenanigans and chaos 🙃🤦🏻♂️😅 All jokes aside the vast majority of Egyptians are really nice, warm, and love their country. you might run into those bad apples but that's totally normal to find everywhere around the world. I hope you've enjoyed your trip in Egypt. All the best 🙏🏻 ❤
