The claim that somaliland is safer is not true. The breakaway government represents one tribe. Along these tribal lines, it has suppressed opposition to the divison and / or giving away military base. Recently, it lost several cities to the east of the region because of these tensions. Arms shipments from the Ethiopian border to regions other than Somaliland have been ongoing for many years, and they eventually end up with pirates, terrorist groups, and break away movements destabilising the whole country.

It’s safer and has functioning government with well supported institutions unlike the failed UN trust territories so called DFS supported by foreign troops.

@@rodag7831 are you selectively reading what appeals to you? There is an opposition being suppressed and there are armed conflicts in that breakaway region. Representing one tribe, while excluding others and controling a city and few towns can hardly be called stability. The very strip of shore to the west that's to be given to Ethiopia does not belong to the tribe hording control in Hargesia and its inhabitants oppose the move. The east of somaliland: las anod and sanaag have expelled that "functioning" government. On the other hand, the rest of Somalia has been undermined with arms from Ethiopia reaching the waring groups including the terrorists and pirates. Not only has this been caught by satellite surveillance from Somalia's new allies, but intercepted and reported in Somali media.

@@MustafaAdelAli You are referring to the forced evacuation and killing of Somalilanders by those against Somalialnd who are documented to be supported by the so called DFS government who admitted to financing militia’s coming in from Kenya, Ethiopia, Eritrea and Somalia specifically ‘state in Somalia calling itself Puntland. These are planned attacks against Somaliland that is against the actual Somalilanders. So there is no regional war it’s Somalia attacking another Somaliland region. It’s expansion that has been going on before even colonialism era. This after Somaliland made it clear it has no intention of being part of the failed state calling itself DFS of Somalia.
