its amazing to see how the old holdens in the dry parts of aussie still have most of there steel.the old holdens didint fear so well in the moist nz climate.my grand dad bought a brand new hg station wagon in around 1968 he still had it in 1985 when he passed away.i have fond memories of that old wagon

Is there a kit you would recommend for a HD-HR? Inherited a HR recently with a terrible steering set up that someone has put in it.
@ProShop1 Жыл бұрын
Check out the front end we put in the HR. It's the same as in the RBEH

Yeah that's a common problem that alot of people come across with using torana front steering on HD And HR Front cross member the commodore steering was a much easier option I've seen a heap done that way
@ProShop12 жыл бұрын
Yeah I don't know why they still sell the kit.

You need todo more homework on the Ackerman Principal! A line from the tie rods should meet a 2/3 the length oh the vehicle. you should not have to change the vehicle geometry in anyway. If the steering is changed so that the arms are at the front of the suspension then these lines should meet at the same distant in front of the car. Modifying the front suspension and in particular the steering system is not a job that should be done without a complete and thorough understanding of the principals involved. Without this knowledge you are you are tempting disaster for all. 5:36

Thanks for your input Neville.
@MickH60 Жыл бұрын
Neville, Plenty of us understand completely. It's almost impossible to have correct Ackerman with the steering at the front for the reasons you stated, the steering arms would hit the wheels BUT, I have looked at literally hundreds of factory stock cars and almost NONE of them are built exactly to the Ackerman principle, yep, virtually none, and some are actually miles off, they are all compromised due to lack of space. So whilst it's important to understand the principals involved, you still have to be able to fit the steering and try and eliminate bump steer, as Peter's done here... This has been passed by an engineer....

Sorry mate but do you realise when you move your recon opinion? If you use the same one on the rear when you turn left it will actually turn right. You have to get a opinion with the pinion piece going if it’s now on the top side of your main rack in it has to be on the bottom side of your main rack in just let you know.
