Thanks for the great video! There’s not much out there yet and I’m very curious about what this is really capable of. I do still have a very particular question relating to normalling of the send/return jacks, though. If you send from loop 2 without plugging anything into the loop 2 return jack will the signal still continue on to loop 3? Just looking to figure out what kind of splitting/parallel options this may offer (beyond the one dedicated one between 5 and 6).

If I'm getting you correctly... (if not please hit me back and I'll answer the best I can). If a loop has nothing in it, and you activate that specific loop, it will mute all sound period. E.G. if I have a ts9 in loop 1 and a delay in loop 3, and NOTHING in loop 2, if I create a preset with loops 1-2-3 and all selected, you will get nothing coming out of the amp. you could however make a preset that uses loops 1 and 3 and that would work just fine. So if you send out from loop 2... but do not return that signal, and you enable loop 2... you will get no sound. If you are trying to use an fx loop with a diffenret 5/3 or 3/5 split... it can be done but you'd have to lose a loop and have that loop on in every patch... E.G. you can have pedals in loops 1to 4... use loop 5 for the fx loop send return... then have pedal in loops 6-7-8 be in the FX loop. Hope that answers, like I say, hit me back if you have more questions

Are you changing amp channels just using an instrument cable from control 1 to the footswitch jack on your amp. I seem to be getting a lot of noise when i do that, maybe a ground loop?

Yeah my amp just had an instrument cable to a switch. Unplugged the switch...plugged into the switchers control 2. Works perfect for me no issues

Maybe someone can help, here's my problem: I've tried plugging the pedals multiple ways, but no matter how I set them up all I get is my amp's clean tone; the guitar is plugged into the switcher properly, it goes in the IN jack. and after my effects it goes out to my amp. Also, whenever I start experimenting with the buttons on the board I can't even hear the amp, it just cuts all sound. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Per using the tap output... I would _imagine_ that, for instance, given TWO stomps that are "looking" for a tap tempo, it _might_ be possible to simply use a "Y" splitter cable-1/4" male to two female outputs-by which you could then add a short patch cable from that point over to those two stomps "looking" for that tapped tempo. IOW, why not simply split what's getting sent? I'm no electronics expert, but AFAIK, the 'tap' is a simple electronic signal, and I bet what I'm suggesting here would work. (For the record, I do NOT own the Super Switcher-YET-but your informative video has me just about ready, so... nice job here! Thanks!)

I'm seriously considering pulling the trigger on this.. It does everything I will need it to but can you let me know if the built in boost does boost the amp volume/gain, ie for solos and doesn't just add more sustain...? Thank you..

It's a volume boost. I forget the exact amount of db but check out the specs. If there are no videos online hit me back up I'll make one 😂

Hey, nice vid! I would like to know, when you select the boost (or crtl1/ctrl2 for that instance) and save it in a patch, does it stay memorised when you turn on the switcher later again (in the same way as it does for the loops) or do you need to save them again?

Yup! Everything is permanent until you either manually change it or do a factory reset on the unit. I have everything going to a power bar I flip off when I'm done playing. Flip back on all patches are 100% intact

hey, all pedals are connected directly to individual channel on the switcher, except for the large amount of fuzz, which I daisy chain into 2 switcher banks (low gain and high gain)

Tuner works fine with my set up. I use it daily. You must have plugged something in incorrectly.

can you run some pedals in the fx loop of your amp, and some in front of the amp with this switcher? i have my delay and verb in my fx loop and everything else in front right now and i want to run patches with combos of both with the same switcher. sorry if this is a dumb question lol i’m new to loop switchers

Yes you can! But you are limited to either 3 or 5 in from and the opposite in the loop

Good video, I’m new to these type of pedals, I actually bought this but haven’t set it up yet. I’m a bit confused, can you only hook up 8 pedals to it?? I currently have 12 and that’s why I wanted something like this but if you can only use 8 pedals I don’t think it’ll do what I need it to do. Any insight will be appreciated! Need to decide to keep it or return it! Thx

there are 8 loops. and 1 always on loop. nothing stops you from having more than 1 pedal per loop, but the switcher can only be used to turn those 8 loops on or off in any combo you want. So for example (totally random example) you could put a reverb and a chorus in the same loop, but turning that loop on would turn both on. Another example, I have a lot of fuzzes, I just grouped similar fuzzes in 2 separate loops. So 1 loop has my "low gain fuzzes" all in serial (doom bloom, phoaroh and big muff) and another loop has the high gain (hyper fuzz necromancer). I manually turn on the fuzz I want in that loop and turn off the other pedals. if you need to be able to control 12 individual effects, you need to get expansions, or just a good multi effect. Hopefully this helps.

Just picked up a super switcher for my dual rectifier. What do you have the channel knob set to on the back? Im gonna use the ehx to change channels on the dual rec between green and red channels.

I'm not sure what you mean by channel knob on the back?!? Might not that that on the mini rectifier

@@Livlos ah ok. Yeah there's a knob on the back of the dual rectier for channel selection. It goes Chan 1, Chan 2, Chan 3, FTSW. Then there's also 4 input Jack's for external switching to channels 1,2,3, solo boost and fx loop. I was trying to run ctrl 1 and 2 on the ehx to the external jacks on the back of the dual rec to switch between Chan 1 and Chan 3 on the dual rec. I can't get it to switch properly.

@@bradhargis2261 ah the mini has 2 channels only with a switch on each channel to go between clean or crunch. And retro vs modern. I just leave it to clean and modern and just run the foot switch cable to the switcher.

Just an update in case anyone else encounters this. It took me hours to find and figure out. For a dual rec, turn the channel select knob on the back to Chan 2 (orange). Then depending on your switcher, with controls enabled itll be either green or red channel, and when no controls enabled itll default to orange. 👍

Yes it is IF your pedal has an external expression input, just putting a delay into a loop, will not be controllable with the tap tempo on the switcher

Ok, if I am trying to use this pedal in the “4 cable method”, using the always on loop to the send and return of the Efx loop of my amp, it doesn’t work.

It should make sure the cables are the right way and you aren't activating any loops that don't contain a pedal

@@Livlos Its all about the way you plug in the cables. I finally got an engineer on the phone from EXH. You do not plug the send and return into the FX loop of the amp as you would think. It's a crazy routing, but we got it going. I asked him if there was a printed guide that I just wasn't seeing.....He said no. I'm sure a lot of guys are like me and want to use the time based fx in the loop of their amp. It was only after I saw your video that I purchased that pedal. Maybe add a graphic of the way to plug the cables to help out digitally challenged guys like me.

It has 8 individual loops that you can turn on and off... I have multiple pedals in a few loops.. but I typically turn only 1 on in that loop and then control it with the switcher

@@laudirjunior8922 it is the best "cheap" option I managed to find. The Boss one is a lot more feature rich... but for a much heftier price tag. This thing gets the job done.. for me anyways. 22 pedals might be a bit much :D I;d be curious to see everything you are running ;)

There is a single ctrl 1 and a single ctrl 2... Not clear on why you'd need stereo controls though

@@Livlos ok, thanks! I guess these are mono then. My amp (ENGL Powerball) has a stereo footswitch port, so that you can connect a footswitch with two switches by one cabel. With this I can switch between clean and dirty and amp boost enabled/disabled. But I could use ja Y-cabel from my amp (stereo) to ctrl 1 (mono) and ctrl 2 (mono).

I believe all BOSS pedals are buffered. but putting a buffer at the very end of your chain is exactly where you'd want one anyway. Also, my wife and I are going to see Opeth and Mastodon in like a week. I've been waiting like 15 years to see them and it's finally happening. fucking love Opeth.

Thank you for this video!!! I was struggling to figure out how to run my fx loop... I did the send recieve as well and no sound... very frustrating. EHX needs to make some prints to show the multiple different ways to run this board... thanks again for explaining how you did it. Gonna give it another go tonight. For some reason tho my Black Custom Secret Path does NOT like this switch... cables are good but when I select the pedal it mutes the output... perhaps I need a buffer 🤷🏻‍♂️.

Update* I wired it like you said and it's working ike a charm. I assume we can swap the guitar in/out with the fx loop and make the 1-5 loops for the preamp and 6-8 fx loop. Have you tried this?

Fantastic video sir. I take I would be able to use this for rack equipment as well with pedals? My gsp1101 I use with the four cable method. I have another pre amp that I use for my chorus sound then a multi fx rack. I have tried lots of different cable methods and when I get everything hooked together I end up having to bypass my amps preamp section. Subscribed!

You don't 😁 you control whatever pedals you put into the switcher. Some grouping can go through the fx loop if you choose...but you are limited

@@FLdb-wj4wc yes you can... let me try to explain it.. ignore the EXACT counts.. Im not infront of the thing and I don't remember the exact numbers... Look at it as a device that lets you hook up 8 different loops ( none to infinite pedals). if memory serves you can either have 5 of those loops or 3 of those loops in your amp effects loops..... or all 8 infront.. or all 8 in the fx loops. The device itself just controls presets. So for example, you could have 1 patch thats your clean amp channel with a delay and reverb, and the 2nd patch be your amps distortion channel with an OD. The device just lets you set up presets. You COULD for example, if say you ALWAYS use delay with reverb (dumb example)... you could have those 2 pedals in 1 of your 8loops together. Does this all make sense? :D

@@Livlos I'm trying to hook up my super switcher 4 cable method, overdrive & compression in the front of the amp. Vol pdl in the insert, chrs, dly's, verb & an eq for a lead boost. The problem I'm having is the overdr & comp are noisy, bad!! But if I run them outside of the switcher I don't have the noise.

@@spiderbutt3 can't say I've run into that . I run a lot of fuzz and over drives through the switcher ( routed backwards to flip the before and after). Do you get the issue if you just run a single od though the switcher with all other loops off?

@@Livlos Basic They are noisy even if that patch is not engaged, especially the compressor. Again I've never had this problem until hooked up through the switcher.

it has a 1meg input buffer and a 1k ohM output buffer. I mean it will bypass the pedals but still uses a buffer. Nothing wrong with that 👍

Not quite true. I have one of these going into a marshall stack. It should be possible to use this as a four wire system with the send/ return between channels 5 and 6 going to the amp input and back from the amp effect sends. However, you can't do that because using an overdrive channel it's very noisy.

yeah I hear you... I ended up stacking some pedals in the same loop and just turn on or off the one I want that day. A friend of mine just made himself multiple pedals boards to get around the too many pedals issue :D
