Excellent video, interesting how popular the CF Moto stand was, I don't think we are many years away from CF Moto setting up large dealerships in the UK and moving away from the KTM dealership model. My 450mt build quality is as good if not better than my Tenere, also the attention is fantastic. The 800MT-X looks a great proposition.

Yes. All that. I’ve just been to get my BSA serviced. They also do Kawasaki and Benelli in addition to CFMoto… they have lots of the others but can’t get enough CFMotos of any type to satisfy demand.

I've ordered the 450MT without a test ride. Lucky to get a cancelled order otherwise here in the Canaries the next containers aren't due until March/April, Much lighter than my R1150R and on an island with more tracks than tarmac (FV) it will be used more. If it gets anywhere near what fun I had on my old F650 Funduro, I shall be very happy. After market stuff for the bike is huge already. Thanks for the videos BTW, really enjoying them

I was at the NEC yesterday for motorcycle live but was disappointed with the CF Moto stand as they didn't have the 675 SRR. Why not ????
@PeakMotorcyclesАй бұрын
Proximity to EICMA and Brexit is my guess. They used to just load bikes onto a truck and drive them here from Milan. Motorcycle Live is big in the UK, but it’s very much a local show at the global level. The paperwork to get bikes over to the UK has stopped some from exhibiting and limited what others will bring.

It's getting difficult to ignore CF Moto's bikes as serious competitors to the established manufacturers from Europe & Japan , the 450MT is great looking bike that's well equipped and a very competitively priced , the only down side in UK was you couldn't get one because they were all sold out !! The 800MTX looks good and if it arrives in UK then I will taking one out for a test ride.
@PeakMotorcyclesАй бұрын
It was probably the busiest stand at the show. So definitely not being ignored, quite the opposite in fact. Between the 450MT and it's derivates, the 800MT and now that new 675 Triple in both a sports and naked bike, they have a pretty good line up. The 700MT is a bit of a lump, but most of the rest are good, if not class leading for the price.

Indeed, but they have nice dealerships and marketing campaigns, which don't come for free. I'm not sure there's massive profits in motorcycles, even for them, but costs can be reduced if you have lower overheads.

@andrewtreloar7389Ай бұрын
Andre, what is the wt weight in kilo's for the 800 MT-X?
@PeakMotorcyclesАй бұрын
220kg I’m afraid. Though that is with a 22.5L fuel tank and the 48mm fork. For comparison, the KTM790 with a 20l fuel tank and 43mm forks is 199kg dry… but I’ll bet it’s at if not more than 200kg wet. The MT-X also has 30mm more suspension travel front and back (230mm vs 200mm) and though I can’t find numbers, my guess is that it has 30mm more ground clearance. The seat height is 830/870mm vs 840/860mm on the KTM… so the CFMoto can be both lower and higher than the KTM.

Rode a 450MT, was disappointed tbh. The engine ruins it, I reckon - it’s too short geared, revs its nuts off at 80kph. So, you could argue it’s geared for off road, but it isn’t that light either, it’s around 195kg wet. So, if you want to go off road as a focus, you may as well save 45kg and get the new DRZ.
@PeakMotorcyclesАй бұрын
I have a 450MT and have gone up a tooth on the front to reduce the revs during running in. That said, in the national park where I live in the UK, the speed limit is 50mph/80km/h almost everywhere, and the gearing is ok for that. Stock gearing is too short for motorway riding, but then that's not that much fun either. Will it be any better with the 5 speed gearbox in the "new" DRZ?. I thought the closeness of the ratios was a complaint with the old one. I've tried to find the new ratios, but so far I've not been able to confirm them.
@KevinDakenАй бұрын
I own a 450MT, and don't see it as a dirt bike, but as a Touring ADV bike, with some gravel roads thrown in. I'm tall and heavy so have added the tall seat and screen. The firm suspension is a good fit for me. The engine rev's don't concern me, as I've often owned smaller engined bikes in the past, these are designed, to rev so no harm is done. I also like the flexibility the lower gearing provides. Stock they top out around 162km/h on the rev limiter at 9,300rpm. This is on the low Rev side compared with many 400cc class bikes. Having owned many off-road bikes in the past I see the new DRZ largely being in a different market to the 450MT. Yes the MT is heavier, but it's also much more comfortable and spacious on the road, has a much greater fuel range etc..

whatever your stance on cfmoto or chinese bikes is there's no denying that the likes of the 450MT and the kove 450rally have made the big manufacturers stand up and notice a long neglected segment in the market. KTM now giving us the 390 adventure they should have made years ago. BMW with the 450 concept and even Rieju getting in on the action with the 307. its a shame Honda didnt make more of an effort to upgrade the 300 rally aside from a new paintjob.
@PeakMotorcyclesАй бұрын
The Rieju 307 has the engine from the Voge 300, though with the bigger fuel tank, better suspension and michelin tyres from new, I think that's one of the best, lightweight adventure bikes there is. Why pay 50% more for a Honda with a tank half the size, no adjustable suspension and IRC's?

Yeah CF Moto don't seem to care that much about weight savings. Helps keep them cheaper (and not by that much) than the some of the European bikes.

The Chineese new wave will disrupt also the bike market, not just cars and earlier mobile devices. Finally, for the greater good. Legacy manufacturers will have enourmous problems, most of them deserve it, too. The 800 MT-X is the textbook bike KTM sould have made in the second iteration fo the 790, I trust the twin engine's camshaft is better heat treated here.

@@HumanButcher150 Sorry, I am not a native speaker. I meant, making good motorcycles more affordable, i.e. for a wider audience. Legacy bikes grew blatantly expensive for most. IMHO
@vplphАй бұрын
It is indeed for the greater good. The traditional brands have become lazy and expensive. It took KTM 10 years to come with a lightweight 4 or 500 cc adventure bike and they totally missed the mark with the 390 adventure, although KTM has every part for that type of bike in their range. Basically, traditional brands believe they make the market and stop listening to the real market. The hungry Chinese did.

real world weight obviously top importance, the "aux" tanks unnecessary to most great for the boys down under, be great if they are an option, as a shortie seat height is critical to me. electronics for myself ABS needs to be easily switchable it could stay off permanent that be fine, I really would like scaled traction control too, I imagine soft power setting would be nice, not had much so most not a deal breaker to me accept dangerous ABS, its weird you would think if there was to be anything the chinese would be particularly good at it would be the human-electronics interface. thanks for the insight in to this new to me model. anybody know yet the real weight, remember weight depends on "ready to go spec" sumpguard, protection ,rack etc.
