Love these kind of episodes. I'm always curious what it is that catches the attention of you guys and I always find out interesting stuff to be on the lookout for. I am extremely envious when sales at comic book shops are mentioned, or the great stuff that's available at 50 cent bins. I can't cross the border into the US because of the pandemic, but even when I can cross into San Diego, there are so very few stores around here and none of them have good stuff like what you guys show. It's always been at conventions that I get into bargain bins and then it's usually the regular mainstream books I find... So i live vicariously through videos like these.

Hit up that Eides sale myself! Was able to find four sets of the Barks library for around $20 each. Lucked into being in Pittsburgh at the right time!

It's great to see a comic pickups video by youtube creators that isn't just about looking for those "Key" issues or "wallbooks" or the next book to send to CGC. You all actually care about the content of the books which continues to make this the best comics channel on youtube!

I can't BELIEVE you got Big Apple Comix for 2 bucks! I've been looking for that everywhere. Guess I gotta move to Pittsburgh to get to that shop for the sale.

Haven’t been to one of Eides sales for a few years. Didn’t think they still did it. Will have to remember for next year. *sad side note. Heard Greg Eide passed away last week. R.I.P. Greg, you were ahead of your time..

Wish there was a comic shop like that around here. The ones here all know what they have and mark up everything.

I love your enthusiasm for Roachmill, but you're giving me far too much credit for the art. Rich Hedden was the penciller on RM with me acting more as finisher. So all the striking layouts and visual storytelling was Rich. It's a common mistake since Rich and I never really spelled out our duties in the credits. It was a true collaborative effort.

Glad to learn the truth! You and Rich made n outstanding team. The finishes and layouts are super sharp! - Jim

I loved Roachmill. It deserved a longer run. Many sites not getting this credit right.

@@AcesArtie Like I said, we can only blame ourselves. The common practice in comic credits is writer/artist but since we were both writing and doing the art, we felt no need to try and break things down. Some story ideas were more Rich and some more me. That said, RM was unequivocally Rich's baby. The concept and most of the craziness came from him.

Very cool haul. I can't wait for you guys to cover Cosmic Odyssey. I recently picked up a used copy of the trade for $4 at 2nd & Charles & forgot it was even a thing. Incredible art by Mignola. Also found a copy of Watching the Watchmen for $12, which was a steal.

Now that you have that Elder book, you can do a proper look at Goodman Beaver. All of the stories (except for the suppressed Archie/Playboy piece, that you can read intact in Comics Journal # 262) appear as intended, full pages, and not cut up into enlarged panels like the Kitchen book. It helps to see just how much he was able to cram into a page; just incredible.

I remember those books pretty fondly, but I am not sure how well regarded they are now. I get the feeling that people don't really like them or think they're bad (from random videos and comments I've seen), but I still enjoy most of them.
