to find the λ, take (λ-3) as common term[NOTE: can take {(λ-2) or (λ-1)} but process is kinda long so better to take (λ-3)] and divide it with the eqtⁿ: λ³-6λ²+11λ-6. After dividing, you'll get the quotient as: λ²-3λ+2 and split this eqtⁿ further to get the other two λ values

You should tell why you are taking det = 0. Becase [a - lambda I] is a singular matrix since X cannot be zero. And det of singular matrix is 0. Then you are a good teacher!!. I told you because you were better than other indian teachers in youtube and there is hope

There is an easier way to find the eigenvalues A = [[8,-8,-2],[4,-3,-2],[3,-4,1]] Use this formula |A - λI| = 0 where A is the matrix, λ is the eigenvalue and I is the identity matrix.
