@C1PH3RTXT The guy doing snatch off the riser at 1:28 is Dmitry Klokov. At 2:05 the guy snatching is Gleb Pisarevsky. They are both 105kg lifters.

@VastChoirs Perhaps the question has already been answered, but Russians tend to do a larger variety than Bulgarian lifters. They use a lot of strength building exercises, like presses, push presses, different pulls and squats and do the competitive lifts less often. Furthermore, they don't max out daily on every lift like the Bulgarians and tend to train with weights around 70-80% of their max more. Their theory is that once the technique is there, you just need to get stronger.

They didn't say anything about how much it was, but from the looks of it, it looks like 170. At 1.36 you get a pretty good sidelook. 2 reds, 2 blues, 2 greens, 2 yellows followed by another 2 greens.

Yeha, He is supposed to have done 220 in training. But I don't know about that. What we do know is that he actually did 211 at 125kg bw in a WCh.!!! Amazing...
Weight can be figured out from the colour of the plates. red 25kg, blue 20kg, yellow 15kg, green 10kg

@VastChoirs Thank you. I knew about Klokov but didn't recognize him in the video. I'm not familiar with Gleb Pisarevsky

Excellent video. Who are the other lifters other than Evgeny Chigishev in this video?

@DavidVanPatten Hey thanks! Hope it helps. The book is kind of expensive (I paid 65USD on amazon) but it's worth every penny!

@VastChoirs Dammmn, dude. I don't know much about their training to be honest. I just know that it's not just the three lifts over and over again as the Bulgarians supposedly did. I guess it's more of a well-rounded approach that incorporates some muscle building and other exercises in.

LOL I love that Britney Spears is playing at the beginning haha. These guys are amazing lifters btw.

well pisarenko has said that he'd done a 270 clean&jerk and a 280 clean in training in the 80's; I think in an interview with the getup website; maybe just to show off a bit?
@Sarge34315 жыл бұрын
No prob. It does look like 200kg on Chigishev's final snatch, but I think it goes like this: 2 reds 2 blues 2 yellows and 2 outer reds that adds up to 190kg (but those damn blues did look like reds!)

Yeah, I saw Pisarevskiy, later. But I thought that Chigishev did go up to 200. Sorry for the confusion.

eigeoiegf45, you seem to know a lot about the Russians and their training. How does their programming differ from the bulgarians beyond the reduced volume and presence of formal periodization? Do they do both lifts every day? What's their exercise selection like beyond the lifts+squats? There's a video of chigishev benching 225kg, do they train that lift often?

Rumor is that he said it on russian TV. In 2006. But I don't know... Maybe with straps and off blocks, weighing 5kgs more, or something like that. Why would he go out and say something like that on TV when he can't do it in competition?
@bejjeagle15 жыл бұрын
actually maybe 180 for klokov, cant tell if one is a green or a blue on the inside
@bejjeagle15 жыл бұрын

@VastChoirs Read up on Science and Practice of Strength Training, 2nd Edition by Vladimir Zatsiorsky. That will give you some good insight on the principles behind Russian training.
