Completely off the tourist trail: try the "Fonte Luminosa" fountain, in "Alameda Dom Afonso Henriques" -- my old neighborhood -- as you seem to enjoy being close to water. It is massive, and very impressive when at full display, particularly when the lights come on. Ditto, for the area around the "Jeronimos Monastery" in Belem, but be prepared for huge crowds, particularly in the Summertime.

Wow, what a great day! Really enjoyed this video! Nice to see some new places that I wasn't aware of. And Story is just so adorable and says the most precious things. Always do happy! Seems like you're incorporating new video recording techniques and I really like them, especially the sort of shrinking/spinning 360 degree view is so cool! Thanks!

Great video. I love Lisbon and need to come back - knew about the aqueduct (saw it from a distance while on a train), but everything else on the video was new to me. Your family is lovely.

Another excellent vlog. Lisbon is, indeed, a very good-looking city. I am glad that you're having a taste for it. What an excellent choice of places to visit, like those ancient waterworks -- some amazing feat of civil engineering, indeed -- which is so good to see being kept in such a pristine condition, and open to the public. Well spotted, Sacha. It surely deserves to be better known. You might like to know -- if you don't know it already -- that "Amoreira" is Portuguese for "Mulberry tree", hence, and in all likelihood, the direct correlation between a silk-production plant, (as mentioned at minute 6:17 -- well spotted, Jay!) and the grove of Mulberry trees that gave its name to that area of Lisbon. It is wonderful to see young Story enjoying the experience, so alert to everything around her, as per usual, and now with such an extended vocabulary. Your parenting skills are, indeed, top-notch!

Aqueduct is crazy cool! I was so busy with school when I was there I never got to see this and other stuff. Only saw those arches and heard stories of where you are here! My goodness now years later I get to see it😁👌🥇🍺Thank you. Also Restauradores has a wonderful obelisk that celebrates the 1640 end of Spanish domination. Black market items could be had there perhaps not any more.

@supersueca15 жыл бұрын
Yes you are right, Eight Miles from Home, there is a connection between the Mulberry trees and silk production. That whole district next to the Jardim das Amoreira, in English Mulberry Tree Park, was a silk production disctrict, hence the name and the plantation of the trees. Fortunatelly, the buildings have been preserved.

Lisbon is awesome, and my city of course. There are tons of things to see and do. Suggest seeing the Children's Museum at the Lisbon Zoo, it is great, and from there go on to the Parque de Benfica, at S. Domingos de Benfica. Terrific place, you feel you are in the forest, and there is a playground on on top, where I used to play as a child. Back to centre Lisbon, suggest the Roman Theatre and from there the lookout of Sta Luzia, and close by is the Sé Church from the time of the 2nd cruzade. Then suggest you go to the botanical gardens up Liberdade Avenue in Lisbon inside VII Park. Lovely place.
