In her prime she was unequaled. Spectacular instrument, brilliant interpretation, heartrending without being mannered.

What a wonderful, warm, down-to-earth woman she was, not to mention, an incredible opera and jazz star!

the best is the whole package, a great voice and a great interpreter, she was both!

WOW Mrs. Ferrell was one of the finest musicians born. A regualr human with an extraordinary gift for musics.

For me the most beautiful natural soprano voice of her time-an inspirational singer.

Farrell had a great sense of humor. Please read the quote from the San Francisco Chronicle in the description to this clip above!

I had the good fortune to play a pop concert with Ms.Farrell. She was a wonderful singer and an even nicer person.

She's so right about diction's being neglected -- and it certainly extends to acting and speaking as well as singing.
@TruthSerum1018 жыл бұрын
Even more important than diction is the emotion behind the diction. If the feeling is there, I can figure out the rest.
@mmjhcb8 жыл бұрын
TruthSerum101 Wrong!!!!! We shouldn't have to "figure out the rest."
@TruthSerum1018 жыл бұрын
RMPsumma I said that I can figure out the rest. I do it all the time with opera because there is so much emphasis on vowels. You on the other hand can concern yourself with diction alone and be done with it. Perhaps that is all that you can feel. That's fine for you.

What an incredibly DELIGHTFUL woman!! I would have given ANYTHING to have been one of her students!! Had forgotten how good looking Charlie Rose was, back in the day!
@bloodgrss12 жыл бұрын
Funny how Rose's ego and need to seem 'on top of it' he cannot shut up just as much here as today...he had so many great guests, but he interrupts them needlessly and often. Most improve with time...he has gotten worse... Eileen was a wonder...

Farrell's could explain to anybody why opera is such a rush.

No, what she is alleged to have said was "I see Pippers is in the Shit again!" and later "I will do the singing--you stick to cocksucking." (She denied the second remark.) Later it was said that coming off stage after a magnificent performance of Gioconda, some of the stage crew said "wow, Miss farrell, you're high notes were fantastic" where upon she let loose a rolling thunder of a fart, and said "so, boys, d'ya like my low notes?" (She denied that ever happened either).

She was a great singer but not for the reasons given here. She was not great because of her diction. Anybody can spit out words. She was great because of her VOICE.
