Ein Kamocha - Abraham Dunajewsky

Ein Kamocha is a fusion of several verses from Psalms, ingeniously compiled to impart the message that God is eternal, and so too are the words of the Torah which we read thereafter.
Dunajewsky's melody for the beginning of Ein Kamocha is animated and exultant, in a major key, but switches to a pleading minor melody at Av Harachamim, as the words become more imploring. The second part of this melody will be familiar to North American listeners: in most synagogues on Shabbat, this Av Harachamim is appended onto the first part of Sulzer's setting, though the repeats are typically neglected. While Dunajewsky wrote this composition for regular Shabbat usage, it is traditional in many UK communities to sing it on Yom Tov (though this minhag is in danger of being forgotten).

Only a few people join in with this on Yom Tov nowadays. And they think YOU have it wrong!

The thing is to introduce it to those Baal Tefilla who don't know it. We always sing this on Yomtov - it's what distinguishes it from Shabbos davenning.
