Dr. Einat Wilf explains the essence of UNRWA at a briefing to UN delegations at the UN HQ in NYC hosted by Israel’s Ambassador to the UN. When the Ottoman Empire was defeated in 1918, it ceded its Middle East land to the victors, the Allied Powers. They (the British, French, etc) were under no legal obligation to give up this land to the current occupants. Wars are expensive, both materially and in physical lives (my NZ grandfather is buried in the British Military Cemetery near Jerusalem). But they did give up the land. The Hejazi Arabs, who fought on the side of the British with Lawrence of Arabia, got 99% of that land, today's Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Jordan. The Jewish people also fought on the side of the British and they were granted the right to reconstitute their ancestral homeland so long as other occupants were given equal rights. Israel is less than 1% of the Ottoman land and one-fifth of Israeli citizens are Arabs who have equal rights with Jews. I stand with Israel...🇮🇱🙏💙

Only that there was never a country called Palestine. Its a word the Roman occupiers used for Judea/Judah to eliminate the Judean connection to the land. The word was taken from Philistines, the Plishtim of the Judean Bible. The Plishtim were an invading people from the Aegean Sea. Hence their name, as Plishtim means invaders in Hebrew. Thus, calling certain Arabs Plishtim is apropo, as they are invaders from Arabia and other Arab Occupied lands. They are not natives.

I listen to your podcast; you've probably had this discussion with thousands of EU and US officials, diplomats, etc. over the past 15 years. It would be interesting to know what, if anything, has changed in the feedback, etc. you've received since Oct 7 - today re: UNRWA from officials. I think it would be an interesting item to bring up in a future podcast. I've seen some of your interviews on UK television on YT but haven't found any with US broadcasters.
