📋 INGREDIENTS:
Dough:
5 egg whites
200 g sugar (1 cup)
5 egg yolks
150 g all-purpose flour (1 1/4 cups)
2 teaspoons of baking soda
200 g poppy seeds (1 3/4 cups)
Cream:
500 ml milk (2 cups)
80 g vanilla pudding powder or cornstarch (2/3 cup) **
100 g sugar (1/2 cup)
Pinch of vanilla bean
250 g butter (1 cup + 1 tablespoon)
Molding:
200 g powdered sugar (1 3/4 cups)
45 ml lemon juice (3 tablespoons)
Baking instructions:
Bake at 180°C (350°F) - 15 minutes on top/bottom heat
Baking pan diameter: 29cm x 33 cm (11 x 13 inches)
**The original recipe called for cornstarch, but I used vanilla pudding powder instead.

If you add almond flour instead of wheat flour, this cake will be much tastier. And you can use any type of cream based on your preference and taste. I make this type of cake pretty often. It is incredible!

Doch! Zumindest in Göhren auf Rügen. Dort habe ich ihn in einem Strandcafé gegessen. Er war allerdings mit Bitterschokolade überzogen und in einer Springform gebacken. Genial! Ich habe mich immer gefragt, wie die den Pudding zwischen die Mohnschichten bekommen und ewig nach dem Rezept gesucht. Jetzt weiß ich's - hätte ich auch selbst drauf kommen können. 🙄 Muß ich unbedingt nachmachen. Danke.

Mir schmeckt an Mohnkuchen der Mohn am besten. Den Mohnkuchen den es heute zu kaufen gibt schmeckt scheußlich süß und lasch . Die Mohnfüllung sieht so weißlich aus als ob er bis zum erbrechen gestreckt ist. Früher war die Füllung schön dunkel und saftig. Wen man ihn gekostet hat breitete sich ein wunderbares Aroma aus.
