I have just had to buy a new mower, my old petrol one the chassis is failing and being all electric now, I hated having to buy fuel for it. I have had a Worx Landroid mowing my back lawn but it does occasionally get stuck and creates holes where the wheels have eaten into the ground and it has got stuck. So a few well placed paving slabs really helps. Now my new mower is a Worx Battery powered and like you I was very surprised how easy it was to cut the lawn with. Our front lawn is not covered by our Landroid. This is the way!

A few years ago i bought Ego-power strimmer, then an extended pruner (mini chainsaw) and hedge cutter, they run on a 56v battery system and are probably made for the professional gardener rather than me, but the quality is amazing and i have to say the power and performance of the strimmer which i can compare with a petrol version is just as powerful, so much quieter and of course I'm breathing cleaner air. I do want to buy one of their lawnmowers, they do have quite a range and use my existing battteries, the trouble is I have an corded ex-display Argos special which i bought for £30 and is still working perfectly, I've had to sharpen the blade a few times (one of the biggest tips is to keep a sharp blade, i was told). Ego-power products are not cheap but they are very good.

I’ve had the battery version of your Bosch machine for about 10 years now. I can cut my lawns as an incidental activity in about 15 mins. It’s one of the best things I’ve ever bought, surpassed maybe by my cordless hedge trimmer. Trimming a hedge without a cable to worry about is a breeze.

Such a shame Bosch changed their range as the new ones aren't as good , so I'm hearing . Hedge trimmer is next for me. I have a smaller corded one for close up work and a long pole model with adjustable head but a battery one would be handy. Ryobi or Einhell though to match my other devices🤷

I've had a battery mower (Ryobi 40V) for 11 years now. Five years ago I got 3 other tools in the line with batteries, super cheap because the boxes were water damaged. Maintenance is sharpening the blade and charging batteries.

I have 3 lawns that size. When I had an operation on my arm, we needed to get a smaller lighter mower so that the wife could do the lawns. I have other Sthil kit and batteries hence went down that route. With 2 middle of their range batteries (which I also use for the tree trimming etc.) No my arm is better I am tending to use the Sthil rather than get the ride on or the hand held petrol ones out. Just as quick and I get a good walk too ! One battery easily does one lawn (they have a bigger battery if I had needed it) then swap to the next battery. Meanwhile the first battery is charging for the 3rd lawn, super fast charging. So much easier than corded we used at the old house and no more hassle getting petrol - no petrol car so a special trip to get the jerry can filled not needed either. It was not cheap but the quality is brilliant and it will see me out.

Testing out a robot mower right now. Surprised how good it is and of course zero effort. Ideal if injured but I'll miss the exercise 🥵

Einhell is good! 5 yrs in and mine is going strong! Looked after batterys but abused the device to mulch leaves etc for composting and still good! Qualified hort with use of all makes since 1992! Geoff Hamilton would approve especially if powered with solar!

Me too. It's great when technology starts to do the things you imagined were possible . I'm really surprised at the gps accuracy of the robot and the striping features , any angle, cross cutting etc and sculpting shapes leaving some grass long

Have had a Cobra battery mower for 7 years, I bought two batteries and alternate the use of them. Never had a problem and I haven’t noticed any deterioration in their performance. The same batteries gets used in a Cobra strummer too.

"Batter"powered? That’s what it says on the video screen. Where do you get all the batter from? Seriously, a very interesting video, but the Einhell should really be better made than that.

Probably not worth it in a practical sense for such a small lawn (20 mins mowing is hardly a burden). But yeah, for anyone who likes 'techy' things they're hard to ignore completely. We just got a fancy GPS/RTK one rather than buying another ride-on (3/4 acres of lawn split into four main areas). But yeah, wire-free RTK ones are still hellishly expensive so if you aren't replacing a ride-on they're a bit too pricey still IMO. The wire guided random-path robomowers work fine on small lawns though and aren't much more than a battery push mower (no nice stripes with those though, and pegging the wire out is also a bit of a pain).

I use the EGO system (that is the product name, not some type of joke). It is 56v, and I have a mower, trimmer, leaf blower, chainsaw and 150w inverter. They all take the same batteries, which I charge from. A 160w solar panel and home made battery system. I would not consider any other brand now.

We have the Getech and its very good, not fantastic as they don't have the power or torque so saying its good enough for our sloped lawn so long as you keep up to it. When we move we will go for a flat lawn and a robot mower as I just cannot be bothered to wander around chopping grass when I could be laying prone under the sun....lifes too short !

No way on this - its an Atco / Qualcast for us - 25 years + in, cost is less than £10 / year on E98 - yes I have einhell for drills / hedge cutters etc (via toolstation) - but real work needs petrol!(we do 10000kw from Solar, but running a lawn mower from electricity is like...........)

We'll have to disagree. Servicing , fumes and noise all a nine starter for us. Robot mower I'm trying today is near silent and does a decent job with zero effort

Have iworkx and it’s a solid machine. Similar sized lawn. Bosch corded mowers we get into the Repair Shop all the time. Burnt out motors, seized bearings, cut cables, faulty cables at the switch. Sell it. Battery mowing is great but so is no-mow-summer. We only cut pathways and leave the orchids and grass to grow long for wildlife. Don’t be a slave to the machine…
