We learned today about the death of Finnish maestro Leif Segerstam - an extraordinary and undisputed talent and remarkable (but sometimes controversial) personality. I had a unique privilege to sing with my wife under his baton a few times as a member of the Finnish Philharmonic Chorus (earlier Savonlinna Opera Chorus) and Helsinki Philharmonic Chorus in concerts and recordings. This very demanding piece by world-famous Finnish composer Einojuhani Rautavaara was also recorded.

Indeed it is moving to know this conductor who died 4 days ago and to see at the end of this concert Einojuhani and congratulate him for this magnificent orchestral and choral moment. RIP for these two souls. (from France)

@@null8295 Agree with you both actually. Generally he have many pieces with very interesting and lush avant-grade harmonies. But in this piece specifically he choosed a quite repetetive pattern of tons of parallel minors. He literally goes from minor chord to another. It's a well-known effect in the film score world to create horrorish effect, and you can hear no doubtfully that this piece reminds a lot of horrorish film scores. One particular one it reminds me of is the "Lord of the Rings" one.
