I doubt that Einstein failed to solve a problem that I solved in my head.

You did not find the complete answer to the first one. There are six integer solutions ((25, 24), (25, -24), (7, 0), (-25, -24), (-25, 24), (-7, 0)) and infinitely many real number solutions in the form b = sqrt(a^2-49) or b=-sqrt(a^2-49).

Einstein didn't solve this problem because he was trying to solve E=mc^2...

For the second problem I just went straight to (log36)/(log9) = 1.63093.
