Two of my favorite things, Lin-Manuel Miranda and The Warriors. DUDE i can't believe this wasnt on my radar sooner. I actually wrote a musical number to the Warriors about two years ago just for fun so seeing all this talent brought together to resurrect The Warriors in the musical medium is an experience. Man was that thrilling!

The Warriors is literally one of my favorite films, so I’m obviously ecstatic that this was made. I’m so confused though that this was made as an audio release without a live performance. This really should be made into a live show. Or even an animated visual component to go along with the music.
@adammichaeldaly9550Ай бұрын
Just finished it, and I'm blown away...like to even take this on as an idea..the absolute guts man..bring the warriors to the light again, where this generation I'm sure has little to no connection to the film, flip the most badass macho dude movie ever into a somehow equally badass freakin' musical album with the gang as all females...finding the themes and expanding upon them so they are timeless and universal...pulling certain heart out of the movie that I didnt even know was in there, but clearly was, while also making it all accessible, relevant, and vital. Honouring all that while being creatively original and fresh..it shouldn't work, like every concept that Lin seems to have, and this works as well as anything ever has...in my opinion it's genius, and to be honest, I avoid using that word normally, I just can't think of a better one to describe this work. Everyone's vocal performances, the musicians, the arrangements, the sound design and effects, the genres tackled and perfected, the legends honoured like Lauryn Hill, Nas, Marc Anthony...if you ever feel like we are not living in a golden age of art, music and storytelling, do yourself a favour, and take a bite of this, taste it all at once. If Lin somehow hadnt reached icon status before in your mind, rest assured, he is the playwright/creative light evolution. Just like Bill Russell to Dr. J to Magic led to MJ, Hammerstein to Sondheim to Larson led to Lin... I think we are the lucky few witnessing the greatest to ever do this, and the high water mark that everybody coming next gets compared to. Find a freakin' peak bro! Like come on already!! Sorry for the long post...kind of...thanks ✌️

My only critique about the album: Save the "Warriors, come out and play" to the end! It's Luther's signature line. Let the phrase be a leimotif at first, a warning sign. Build up the suspense. I love how they characterized Luther, too. Made him into a total Joker! I hope this becomes an actual musical!

They been trying to remake The Warriors for like two decades. No one ever agrees on how it should be made so it just languishes in development hell. Maybe this album will both renew interest and focus its conception in a single direction.

Let's get things straight: I like the songs and the performers involved here. Everybody was excellent!! Now, about the subject -a retake on Walter Hill's movie The Warriors from 1979-.No. Swaping the characters' genders is just cheap and doesn't bring anything new. Yes, I said it. Internet, you can disagree with me, but if you look deep inside you, you'll know it to be truth.

Actually, they just added more women to a story that was mostly male. You know, socitey is madde of at least 50% women, so it makes sense.
@ElaurizzaАй бұрын
It made it feel more modern and inclusive.
@ukbloke28Ай бұрын
@@Elaurizza Christ. eff ‘inclusive’. Always means something has to be taken away. They were strong male roles. What, it’s not enough the OG film had a racially diverse cast, a lesbian gang etc? You people will never get done with ‘correcting’ everything. Modern? It’s about gangs in NY back in the day. It’s literally not modern. You people don’t understand there was a past and it wasn’t the same as now? I mean if people can’t enjoy the original film because they don’t ’see themselves represented’ then they are the ones raddled the prejudice’ they don’t serve to be pandered to. The whole thing disgusts me. Make your own stories, stop stealing other people’s stuff.
@ukbloke28Ай бұрын
@@ElachimArtist no it doesn’t make sense at all you tool. gang culture was predominantly male by a huge margin. That’s why - shock horror - the story has mostly men in it. These are men’s stories - women have their own stories. How about respect the author who actually knew what they were doing and why instead of inserting your silly ideas like you know better? The arrogance of it … There’s nothing wrong with telling male stories. Women, gays etc don’t have some god given right to invade every single story, especially since these people scream so loudly about protecting ‘their spaces’. Actual diversity would allow for example stories where everyone is white or whatever but instead we get this artificial. DEI rubbish, all the same. I detest it. I love cinema from all around the world. You don’t see Korean films ramming tickbox lists of people into their stuff. You get Korean people and Korean culture. I’m so sick of what bloody America has done to culture with its entitled baby mentality …
@ukbloke28Ай бұрын
@@ElachimArtist and no they didn’t just ‘add some women’. They took all the main roles which were men and turned them into women. If you are so ignorant of the original film why are you even commenting?
