@ I never could watch it longer than the intro. There are other KZbinrs, tho, that talk about money and „the pressure“ all the time while fishing. And they yell at each other and fake some conflict and all. Not my kind of entertainment.

The perseverance and skill you guys have to be able to do this build is very very impressive! The deck looks very good. Are the plan to sell the old boat now? My only advice is to look to Norway when it comes to innovative ways to make it easier to handle fish on deck. Open top container on deck with hydraulic bottom and water might be something to look into 👍
@EISAlaska10 күн бұрын
Nope, no plans to sell Fish Tale. She needs some TLC, mostly just cosmetic stuff, and a few other projects. We'll be building fish ramps and bins for use in jigging for sure.

Its for length, the minimum limit is 32” for halibut. Anything under has to go back. A 32” fish averages 14.2lbs, 10.7 gilled and gutted.

Thank you EIS Alaska .. I have been down & out after breaking my spine as well as tearing 4 nerves from my bak bone 3 months ago in a fall at home ... I am on the mend , but it's going to take awhile before i can do normal things without the pain , as I am allergic to most pain inhibitor's that my GP provides ... I can't even do the sport that i love ( Lawn Bowl's ) as i am a Club Coach here in Hastings 3915 , Victoria , Australia ... I will be watching more of your content as i am only allowed to walk a certain distance , then my Lower back starts to hurt more , if i go a longer distance i have to use my Caliper Crutches ... ( ones that wrap around your arm just above the elbow ) I won't use a mobility cart or wheeled walker , as i was born with two leg's & I am not a lazy person ... Any way guy's tight Lines & Happy Hunting for the big ones ....

I know it's not part of your routine, but the halibut livers are like foie gras of the sea. Very buttery and nutritious. A little clean up of any obvious veins, then just put them in a glass jar in a hot water bath and poach them.
@EISAlaska10 күн бұрын
I imagine its quite rich.
@merandy6510 күн бұрын
Great job as always guys! Was wondering though - this might be a stupid idea but in watching you control the boat while hauling was thinking wouldn't it be a good idea if in that wind break panel cut a section out and attach a heavy duty piece of plexiglass to give you vision forward so you are not having to stick your head out and around? Just wondering
@EISAlaska10 күн бұрын
Not stupid at all! We definitely plan to do just that with some Lexan. The wind break isn't actually finished yet had to put it on hold and go fishing! But we'll certainly add some windows in that side, as well as the wave wall on the other side.
@zerog504111 күн бұрын
Nice angle Mat for the camera but maybe a little bit higher(?), is it me or does the Emerald sit a bit lower than the Fish Tale in the sea? Glad to see you pacify the fish off camera!
@EISAlaska10 күн бұрын
The height it actually pretty similar at least when dry. As we get a load on Fish Tale squats pretty quickly. I have switched the camera up a few times since this one, I think I'm dialing in on the ideal filming spot.
@andrewmiller286811 күн бұрын
Is there any reason why you've started to club some of the fish? I've been following a long time and never seen you do it before. You have a great channel guys 👍👍👍.
@EISAlaska10 күн бұрын
We're just trying new things. They say the if the fish doesn't fight it won't build up lactic acid in the muscles, resulting in a higher quality product. Also being more humane aspect to it. The bat didn't work out too great, but have since started brain spiking them, works a lot better and is easier on Matt.

how does your guys grading system work when u deliver to a plant? cause in canada its graded numbers 1-3 depending on how clean the fish are and if there are any slices on the inside of the fish even a little poke with a knife makes it a number 2 fish
@EISAlaska10 күн бұрын
Same thing here, when there is damage to the fish, or you gashed the fillet while gutting, they'll #2 it. On the pricing side they grade it 10/20, 20/40, 40+ lbs. Each weight class you get a different price for, normally smalls being worth less than large.
@renehernandez523111 күн бұрын
How’s your new boat compared to your old one? Also do you guys ever run into people hauling/ checking your lines for fish? If so what are the repercussions for doing so?
@EISAlaska10 күн бұрын
The Emerald Isle is a fine sea boat! A bit rolly, but any boat is going to in larger seas. Once we get stabilizers on it'll be awesome. Never caught anyone hauling ours, its illegal to haul other's gear.

@EISAlaska10 күн бұрын
We're not sure yet, ultimately it depends on how long we're out for. This last trip we fueled up 150 gallons for 3 days. But we ran a lot of bottom too, so there are a few variables to consider.
