Bjorn, this format is wonderful - I love the stories about individual trees because it expands my appreciation and understanding in so many ways. Of course I also appreciate references to Japanese words and culture. Even more special is that I have some of my own photos of at least a couple of the trees. It makes me smile every time you say " and this is one of my favorites from Kouka-en" - because really, how could anyone choose???

Hi Bjorn! If you can fix the links or make a new gallery for this episode anytime, it will be awesome! No rush, I think you can be busy with your new house project in Kyoto, good luck on that 🍀

The links are dead for the images in the description, it would be awesome if you could re-edit the photos into the podcast.

I was surprised by the mention of the "bonsai sabotage" during the 80s, considering the info I read about the lack of vandalism in Japan (even during the aftermath of the Fukushima disaster when people were hungry and almost no food vending machines were broken into). I'm assuming that the sabotage of trees was the result of business competition overriding the moral values of lawfulness?

Great job, enjoyed this format. If you will record a video from time to time like "Bonsai Network Podcast | What is mochikomi?" it would be perfect. Your content is mega valuable I like the last video on FB as well about developing shohin twisted junipers, so many info in just about 10 mins. Cheers ! 🌳🌲🌴 🤙

Is it really a bonsai podcast if Bjorn doesn't call the main part of the podcast meat or potatoes 🤔

Bob King There is a paradox in their work though as many see beauty in their ugliness. Also Nigel works with what he has, like most of us, that’s why I and so many I think like watching his videos.
