The song "Wake Me Up" by her is really good as well. :) Much of what she is talking about is also very culture specific here. She's talking about "varðar" (translates to cairns) and "garðar" (translates to a boundary wall, like a stone fence), which are ubiquitous in Faroese nature. Cairns are used as landmarks for walking in the mountains, and are used as a way to stay safe in foggy weather. There are centuries old stone walls and remains from them still visible in much of the country, which mark the boundary between "bøur" (infield) and "hagi" (outfield), used for grazing sheep. :) Faroese people learn from early on that fog can be deadly when walking in the mountains, and to sit next to a cairn until visibility improves or until someone more experienced comes to get you. Some of the lyrics mention that there are no walls or cairns visible, and no one is answering her yells for help.

Amazing song, one of my favourites. "Gullspunnin" and "Silvitni" are worth checking out too. Very beautiful songs, especially when you can understand the lyrics. The English versions don't have the same feel. Every time I have a choice I prefer to listen to a song in a language different than English. Eivør was probably the one I could call my favourite female singer before I discovered Floor.

Love Eivor. Love the song. I prefer the English version though. Look up the English version and watch it for yourself 'Into the Mist" is the name. The video (either version) is amazing. She is so creative.
