if you ever watched "The Last Kingdom" .. Eivor sings the theme song
@roykilgour97905 ай бұрын
Eivør doesn't just sing the theme song in The Last Kingdom on Netflix. Eivør sings in all the seasons and in all the parts of The Last Kingdom and she also has a small role in one part. In The Last Kingdom, Eivør sings in her national language Faroese throughout the series and also in the film, which is the best preserved Viking language in the world. Faroese is the national language of the Faroe Islands and the first language of Eivør. She often sings and performs in Faroese and Trøllabundin is in Faroese.

There are only 3 vocalists I can think of that can so successfully produce such haunting soundscapes - Eivor ( Faeroese ) - Aurora ( Norwegian ) & Anneke van Geirsbergen ( Dutch ) - all three have the ability to draw you in and envelope you with their voices .
@roykilgour97905 ай бұрын
No, when you have heard several songs from Eivør and heard her voice through all seasons of the series The Last Kingdom on Netflix, you clearly hear that Eivør is on a completely different, higher level than Aurora. Aurora is more of a pop singer with a good and sweet voice. Eivør is unique with a fantastic voice on a completely different level.

Hello, Red 🙂 Thanks for checking it out. Eivør is an amazing singer, and I rank her VERY high up there among my favorite female singers. And this particular song is one of my all time favorites, regardless of artist/group. I just LOVE the build-up of it, and you also commented on it. I understand that it didn't have the same profound effect on you as it had on me the first time I heard it. It was actually my entry-song into her catalogue 🙂 And I have absolutely no idea how many times I listened to it the first month after my discovery😂 It's always SO nice when you find a new artist or band that can do that to you, right ? I think your Pink Floyd comparison is VERY valid for this performance, albeit I hadn't thought about it before you said it. Fresh ears and all that.... Enjoy the weekend 😊 Love from Norway ♥♥♥♥♥

Thanks for introducing me to this. My favorite songs are like this. I love emotion and passion and minor chording. You can feel it. This is the stuff I like to write. Just need the band to come along with me on a journey like this. Hard to make the drummer happy in a band with these kind of slow melodic beautiful songs. But the drums play such a role when they are slow and powerful like this. Feeling a little NUMB.

This song in particular I’ve noticed, and you are the first one I’ve seen mention it, reminds me of Pink Floyd’s album Division Bell. Her other songs are fantastic too, but different. As others have mentioned, the Trollabundin Live in Norway performance and the Last Kingdom are two great ones. She also does one with her sister that might take you further down the rabbit hole.

I hadn't heard this artist before. At first, I wasn't overly impressed. I think the exaggerated breathy sound is so overdone these days (my opinion). I'm glad I kept listening... as the song progressed and the instrumentals and vocals built, I gained more and more interest. Once she started in her belts, I was won over. You mentioned Pink Floyd. I was thinking it reminded me of Clare Tory's iconic vocal track on Great Gig in the Sky (Dark Side of the Moon) just before you said that! Great reaction!
