Those axes are awesome. The guy who forged them did an incredible job and his eye for detail is top notch. Any viking or dwarf (Gimli) would be proud to weild those bad boys in battle.

What can I say? As a tradesman, I adore watching a craftsman make something from nothing. Please continue doing what you do. My only request is more history/cultural lessons and to continue explanations of why you're doing what you're doing. This guy though? This guy is good.

I have to say, the quality of the video produced grow a lot since the start of the channel. Lightning, framing, editing, Matt improves himself greatly and has nothing to be ashamed of other youtube videos! And as always another amazing build. This channel deserve all the sub it has, and way more!

Since Way of Kings was brought up. Kaladin's Shard Spear, Dalinar's Blade, or Adolins Plate/Blade (had to throw plate in somewhere)

Dude, spoilers.Spear doesn't show up until the next book. For a Way of Kings build i think Szet' blade would be more fitting, it's not as gigantic as other swords and yet just as important in the story.

Beautifully done! I'm a huge Assassin's Creed fan and haven't played Valhalla yet, I'm an OTR truck driver and can only play Xbox at home, and I'm playing through all games in order of release before I touch Valhalla.

Interesting etching, You guys should do an elaboration on stencil work with markers. Makes me want to try this with the simple tools before investing in the good stuff.

Thank you guys for the response that’s cool as hell, I absolutely love what you guys do It is truly awesome , I know you guys are busy as hell making some truly awesome cool shit and these projects take a hell of long time to make but I always say you can’t rush greatness , but if could please make a request could you please please please make the reforged kings sword from Outlander it’s one of my favourite swords from a movie ,I think it’s because it’s a blend between an old Viking sword and the metal from the dudes spaceship I thought was a cool ass concept and it looks super badass 😂 take care guys in these pressing times and as always ✌️💚🤘

@@ThatWorks matt enjoy. As you get to the most recent book you will want to expand out into some of his other books as they are all connected as part of his “cosmere”. The mistborn books and the book war breaker are important to really flesh out the universe he’s built over the years and have references in the most recent stormlight archive book. The narrators Michael Kramer and Kate Reading do a great job

I would love to see you guys build The Green Dragon Crescent Blade, Guan Yu's weapon. We have seen alot of swords and axes, maces and daggers, but not that many, if any, guandao.

Estimate per axe 8-12 kg. Which is quite light during eivor era.

@@sbhack2077 sorry, but no. 8 kilograms is way too much for any weapon. Doublehanded axes would weight at top 3 kilograms, and that's already a lot.

​@@sbhack2077 lol, a normal viking axe weight about 800g. In comparison some of the biggest a Zweihänder weight around 2-3 kg and they would 1.4-2.1m in length. You are almost talking about a Guts raider sword from berserk level of weight.

I was wondering what happened to the Ilya and Matt from Man at Arms, and it's nice to see they split off and still documenting their forging projects. The video production isn't the same quality but the projects are still awesome

Idea: make a series on proper forging techniques, and the proper tools, like hammers, and anvils, and how to prepare to forge properly.

If you end up enjoying The Way of Kings, definitely check out the rest of Brandon's books. All of the Cosmere books are good, but even his non-Cosmere books are good. If you're not really into mideval-ish fantasy, I'd suggest the Reckoners series if super hero type stories are more your speed. If something a little more..odd but also normal (yeah, doesn't sound like it makes sense, but it will) is more your thing, then check out his Legion series.

I would enjoy a bit more historical build' like a type xvi or type xx oakeshott sword' or maybe even better a type Xiii' in Romania from where i am the majority of the discoverd swords are type Xiii so it will be something special to me. Great work guys. Keep the art coming alive.

Always exited for a new That Works video. A question, have you guys ever considered making a yari? There are almost no videos of someone making that particular type of spear and none about something like the katakama yari. Seeing the frankly astonishing skill of all of you put towards making a weapon that shaped the history of Japan would be amazing. Also I think I have brought this up here in the comments before and even got a reply, but I cannot quite remember if that was the case.

I remember when you guys did the green lantern ring, you had joked about doing Deadpool's katana's, well seeing as Deadpool and wolverine is coming out soon, I thought I'd suggest you guys make deadpools katanas from the first film

Mine has the butt made into a bowl for smoking, 21 inch curved handle is the stem. Wonder how much one like that would cost yall to remake? Wish I could upload the pic. Great to have out in the wild.
