I thought the D-Backs manager would have gotten ejected first, because they were probably already frustrated in losing the first two games of a series, and when you’re not winning games, sometimes a manager does something like this to get ejected to fire his team up. Gotta give Marmol credit for recognizing the BS strike zone and calling CB Bucknor out on it. I still thought the D-Backs manager would get ejected at some point in the game as well, but it didn’t happen.

After Oli was peeled off by the third base umpire, it was wrong for the knucklehead CB to keep engaging Oli and actually moving in his direction. CB was too aggressive and instead of diffusing the situation he only prolonged it making it worse. For this game CB made Angel Hernandez look good.

First, to see Bucknor's ejection and mouthing "f&%ker" to Marmol is completely inappropriate. The MLBUA's recent claim that umpires are held accountable by the league is complete horseshit, as evidenced by the fact that Angel Hernandez, Phil Cuzzi, and CB Bucknor still have jobs. If there were true accountability, these guys wouldn't be umpiring a tee ball game. Even weathermen who get the forecast right 35 percent of the time are held more accountable than MLB umpires.

CB Buckner is a disgrace. His calls are decent, but he often has a quick hook, and his smugness during ejections is not only downright rude and an absolute power trip, but he then often gets just as animated as the ejected person. As a professional who is ejecting someone for arguing, he shouldn’t be arguing back like that

They have a two-inch margin of error on all four sides of the strike zone, so their grade is artificially inflated. Earlier this year Hall of Shame umpire Angel Hernandez had an absolutely brutal game, but was officially credited with a 96% accuracy rate.

This is why it is so frustrating trying t move up in the umpiring world. We all miss pitches, but come on... 1 marginal miss and 2 that are not acceptable at varsity, college or MLB... yet they get to stay and keep working when there are guys working their ass off that can and will do a better job. The one thing coaches want is consistency. It is ok if a pitch is called a strike if you call it that way every time. This strike zone was all over the place.

Just take a look at the number of videos online about strike zones and ejections, and C B is right up there with Angel. Maybe the second worst ump, at least with balls and strikes.

I think there should be a post game press conference where the umpires are forced to answer questions from each team’s manager as to how they felt they call the game, especially the balls and strikes. That would make for “must see TV”. All umpires make some mistakes, but you get more respect if you own up to them and try to do better instead of trying to blame everyone else. I think the replay umpires should have to answer to Joe Torre and Rob Manfred end of each day regarding any questionable reviews, because often times the field umpires get yelled at when the real problem is the replay umpire in New York.

These were obviously bad calls, but to play devil's advocate, it would seem to me that chirping (much less screaming) from the dugout is just going to distract the umpire and lead to more bad calls since he's being yelled at while the game is ongoing.
