Unlike in today's Hindi films, which are more or less 'Punjabi films ( and culture) dubbed in Hindi...', these old films ( from great film makers Mahmood, Hrishikesh Mukherjee,...) were real pan- India. The fun of this movie, 'Podosun' ( neighbour) is, it is full of middle-class characters picked from various States ( and cultures) of India. The hero Bhola (and his uncle) is a Bhaiya from UP. His mami, auntie or uncles wife, is a Maharashtrian. His beautiful neighbour ( played by Saira Banu) and her family, are Punjabis. His teacher / friend / philosopher / guru is a Bengali (played Kishorkumar). Guru's fiancee, ' Anuradha' is an Assamese. The, heroine, beautiful neighbour's music teacher ( played by Mehmood, himself) is from Tamil Nadu...! And all are engaged in a comedy fusion! That's makes this film a masterpiece.

Namaste Snow Angee! So.... Did u see the movie "padosan"??? It's absolutely hilarious!! You should also see a movie called "Bawarchi" ... Take my word for it... After seeing this movie.. You will really feel... Why didn't this movie go for oscars... As best movie... Best screenplay... Best direction..Best dialogues.....best soundtrack...and what u have.... There is a chaotic house where a joint family lives. An old man, his three grown up married sons..their wives and a young college going orphan girl .There is lots of joint family tensions and complications. The old man sleeps in a seperate room... And keeps all his family wealth chained under his bed. No servant or cook stays long in the house because of its chaos. Then one day one young man comes for the post of the "Bawarchi" ( cook) He is multi talented.. And amazingly charges a paltry sum of only Rs 30 a month...And soon woos entire family with his charisma... Till one night...The Bawarchi chloroforms everybody in the house and runs away with the trunk full of family wealth.....!!!! Rest.. U gotta see.
