Kishore Kumar is my all time favourite singer. But I heard that he was trained but not professionally. Most Bengali families have a culture to practice basic music at their home. He has an interview with Lata ji where he spoke about it in that interview.

The Kishore Kumar is a complete artist after Charlie Chaplin. Kishore Kumar was a great singer, actor, director, producer, script writer and he even wrote some songs as well. When he sang sad songs he expressed tragedy like no other could, his expressions in a joyous song would make anyone cheerful. Mohammad rafi and manna dey were better trained singers and they were legendary but kishore Kumar was a complete artist who could don multiple hats and do everything with near perfection. Thus, a COMPLETE ARTIST!

Kishore Kumar was a reluctant actor. He was only interested in singing. But he was goaded into acting by fellow actors and big producers whom he couldn't refuse. Kishore Kumar is probably the biggest star from yesteryear bollywood and his songs are still popular today.....funfact he actually came to bombay as an aspiring singer but no one would hire him as singer but then he was cast as an actor on a whim and became a star actor and singer....he got to sing his songs once he became a successful actor LOL...and his songs are legendary....he always used to say that being actor was never his goal and he didnt like acting that much but singing was his passion and acting was the means to an end for his music career
