EKC (ECG) rhythms 1, Normal range of rhythms.

Learn to tell the normal from the abnormal EKG rhythm. A lesson giving basic information about the generation of the ECG and how to record it. It then goes on to consider a range of rhythms which may be considered normal. Starting with sinus rhythm, it goes on to illustrate ventricular ectopics and premature atrial contractions. Of course the multifocal ventricular ectopics are not really normal.

How long can the heart sustain tachycardia of for example 130 bpm?

These days we've taken a bit more of an aggressive stance with multifocal PVCs. As unifocals can represent hypoxia, hypokalemia, or other electrolyte disturbances, multifocal PVCs usually indicate an extremely irritated myocardium. Metabolic derangements should be corrected and your index for ventricular dysrhythmias should be high.

Is VES considered a beat? It doesn't fulfill the purpose of a normal beat and therefor more or less just a depolarisation of the myocardia.

Hie doctor...i have a problem here...i went for EGG it shows that right bundle branch block...i went for ECO they said my heart is fine...went back for ECG again it shows that1100 sinus rhythm 2216 type A wolff parkinson white syndrome 9150 **abnormal ECG...Please help me because the doctors are saying the Echo it doesn't show anything wrong about my heart...but i can feel the pain as i speak now...Please help....

Dear Martha, The echo-cardiogram is a visualization of the heart using ultrasound. The ECG is a completely different form of investigation, recording electrical activity. If your heart appears normal on an echo, this does not mean there can be no electrical abnormality. However, your doctors should fully understand this difference. I don't know what the numbers mean, but the Wolff Parkinson White may cause tachycardia, (fast heart rate). Is there a cardiologist who can fully assess you? An intervention cardiologist may be able to oblate the abnormal pathway causing the WPW, but you must take specialist advice. I wish you well.
