I was having issues with the EZiCam app. After reviewing your great contribution to the knowledge base I finally got the remote function on my phone. Did not happen as per instructions which do not tell you to dismount from your Wifi Router :-) This is great for those who would like to see what exactly is in the frame of course. Will reduce the battery time for sure. Big thanks to you!!

It is written in the manual. The camera acts as an access point. You simply need to connect to it's WiFi. No need to dismount from your WiFi router.

@@Meisech My manual does not exist. And what I have been able to source is spotty at best. All I have is gratitude for your efforts. None of the Apps are what I would call predictable for me at first blush. You don't necessarily know to click on the instance of the EkenH9R wifi item >>again

Hi, excellent review!! The reason why you have to enable the *Continuous* Time Lapse mode is because without that option you can use the Time Lapse mode as one shot self-timer mode. And the reason why there isn't much difference between 4K and 1080p picture is because Eken H9R has Omnivision OV4689 sensor which is a 4 MP sensor - for the same reason there isn't a point in taking photos in resolutions higher than 4 MP. However, the 1080p @ 60 fps videos are superb and this action camera is the best value for the money. At least I am not aware of some better 1080p camera for that price.

Thank you for this additional informations. As I live in Europe, I mostly use 4K because of the 25 fps. I edit my films in 50fps which results in a better compatibility for the final video.

The remote control is only splash-proof. I do not know if there is a waterproof case for the remote control, but all camera functions are accessible from the camera's waterproof case.

My mind is spinning :) Need such to hands free film birds who come very close BUT no idea still how I'd download and would my Mac Pro accept such or iMovie ?

First of all, this camera is not really intended to record birds. It's a pure action cam. I don't know what exactly you want to do, I suppose you want to record birds which are close to your home or in a nesting box. A few possibilities : either you buy a surveillance camera (live view over an app or a program), a wildlife camera (best choice), or a tiny camera like the SQ13 or SQ23. For the surveillance camera and all other mini cameras you need to power these cameras permanently. The battery of these cameras are only lasting 1-2 hours, even in standby mode.

You said to use this at first you have to charge the battery? The camera battery or the remote control battery? Because I have a problem getting the remote control working and I don't see a charger for the remote control battery in this package. Any ideas?

the remote cannot be recharge, just change the battery.

I'm going to mount this on the nose of my kayak so the remote will be very useful do you know if the remote is waterproof? I see it has a seal to keep water out but is it waterproof?

According to the manufacturer, the remote control is waterproof up to 3m. So there shouldn't be a problem with kayaking.

How far away from the camera will the remote work? and how long will the camera stay on when not recording?

According Banggood approximately 10m, but as you can see in my video, I am 25m away from the camera. Unfortunately, I do not know the maximum transmission distance. Screen saver and power saver can be set from 'off' to 5min. So, set to 'off', the camera will be active until the battery is empty.

No this is not possible, you have to turn on the camera manually. On the other hand, you can turn off the camera by first pressing the 'photo' button and almost at the same time the 'video' button.

You can not pause the video, you can only stop it. A new press on the record button will create a new video sequence.

No, unfortunately not. But with a simple PC video program, you can assemble the different parts. Exists also for Android and Iphone devices.

The camera produces mp4 files. After you transfer these files to your mobile device, you can use a video editing application to edit your videos. For my part, I prefer to edit them under Windows.

I bought my ekenh9r, but my remote Control don't work. When i took the control, the lights work, but don't start the vídeo recordder. What the problem ?

I had the same problem when I received my Eken. Probably the battery of the remote is drained. The problem comes from the different parts of the remote control, which do not exactly match. When packing, the upper part presses on the lower part which activates the function of the remote control. Just replace the battery and make sure none of the two buttons are pressed down.

You can charge the camera using your smartphone charger, a power bank or an USB port on your computer. You need a mini USB cable to connect the camera.

There is no code to connect. Turn on your camera, push the lower side button until the message 'Wifi Connection ....' is displayed. On your tablet, connect to the Wifi of the camera and start the Ez iCam app.

That is really strange, the code is embedded and not editable. Maybe you have a newer version where you can edit the WiFi settings. Try 12345678. In most cases this is the standard code used for such WiFi connections. Else I suggest to contact the reseller.

@@matsvdm2702 Normally if the LEDs light up when you activate the buttons, it should work. As I said before, as soon as you turn on the camera, the remote control can be used. Maybe try to reset the camera.

When the camera is on, use the front button to scroll through the different menus. The last menu (fourth menu) is the setup menu. Use the top button to enter the setup menu. If this menu is not displayed, then you may have a problem with your camera.

@@aqilahartaluddin3136 In time lapse mode, the camera is taking a picture every x seconds depending your settings. First define in the settings the time lapse for the interval. Than set the 'Continuous Lapse' to 'on'. Now activate the time lapse in the main menu (third menu). A counter will than take every x seconds a picture. Now you need to assemble all the jpegs in a video software program to obtain a movie. For slow motion, you need to set the video resolution to 720p (120fps). Again, you need to use a video software program to convert the 120fps down to 30fps or 25fps. The camera is not able to do all these action by itself. You definitely need to do that in a video editor.

So, if the red LED on the remote is lighting all the time that means that one of the buttons is pressed. The processing of the buttons is not really precise. I suggest unscrewing the remote and removing the excess burr from the red and grey buttons with a sharp object. The buttons must be able to move freely in the housing.

Indeed, the recording with the app produces 1 minutes sequences. I do not know the reason for that, but you can merge the scenes using your video software to obtain a complete video.There should be no image lost.
