This was very well done. I think it takes a bit of derangement to make something like this. It certainly didn't help his fellow human beings. It was for his own glory. I guess you could say it may have been for his people also, but they certainly were not mentioned or highlighted. It is an amazing creation though. I have read some books out of the private taree library nsw that give the story of the hittites and the surrounding civilizations/societies that were written in the early 1900's. They had more power and influence than the amount of books written about them. They also had clay tablets and libraries which show their history and their medicinal and healing abilities. They were hit with viruses and the author's of those books believe that is the way they died. Wars, reduced numbers, unruly kings and sickness. Look in google books for titles.

great documentary, thank you! among the questions that are still open, though, is 1. why the name nemrut/nimrod for this mountain, referring to a giant mentioned in the bible and in the quran? 2.why are there statues that are eroded in quite different ways and stages? 3. how on earth could "normal" human beings manage to build these statues up there and also to raise this huge gravel hill? all this should be addressed by now, after such a long time of research and digging ... .

I’ll answer in order 1) No. this is a different monument and doesn’t appear in the holy books 2) the statues were discovered in different stages of decomposition or damage. Some were more intact some had more cracks. The ones with more cracks were more susceptible to thermal shocks caused by the big difference in temperature in summer and winter, as well as water and moisture seeping into the cracks and freezing there. 3) The probably used a quarry on the summit or very close to the summit and built the statues one part at a time. And of course rulers in that time were absolute and used forced labor and slavery. Hope all this helps.

لم افهم بالضبط لاي حضارة تنتمي هذه الاثار وما هو الشعب الذي تقع هذه الاثار على ارضه وهل تغيرت الشعوب التي تسكن في هذه الارض لتحل محلها شعوب اخرى لاعلاقه لها بهذه الاثار كما هم الاتراك الذين جاؤوا متاخرين لهذه الارض فهل هي اثار تعود للشعوب الاريه ام الشعوب الساميه ام....الخ وهل درست وقورنت مع حضارات اخرى والان اي الشعوب تسكنها !!؟؟

They need to get a team to put everything back together using only what would have been available at that time and document it. They always seem to be perplexed about NOT finding evidence that would show a large human presence anywhere on or near that site. But I used to be in the army and whenever we went out to the field we made sure that nothing was left behind when we left… so why wouldn’t they have done the same thing ? I mean the only reason people think the pyramids were burial tombs was due to some guy in the 1800s who said it looks like a tomb , that was an assumption that became fact, although not a single body or inscription was ever found…. I think a modern no bias gen Z team should go out and re-document all these ancient sights without any preconceptions

Un magnífico reportaje.Yo también tengo recuerdos de un pueblo cercano al Nemrud.Nunca he visto un cielo estrellado tan puro y tan hermoso. Me parece que en Comagene no sólo conservaron el recuerdo de los Hititas.El propio nombre " Nemrod",remite a tiempos pretéritos anteriores.No por nada,en la Biblia se considera al rey Nimrod un descendiente de Noé,ya que el resto de las familias humanas fue destruido en el Diluvio. Lo que dice la arqueología,es otra historia. O no.
